we are looking to have a small ceremony for upto 40 people, (but we prob wont fill that) on the Friday afternoon, then all of us can go off to a restaurant for some food, it will just be close family and friends - then as we are having our reception in village hall we will have a lot of prepping to do ie with food and décor etc, we was thinking of having the reception on the Saturday night, can still have dresses if wanted, first dance , cake cutting etc just on different night :) works for our budget and we are happy with that, im sure there are going to be a few family members not so happy - anyone else had separate days etc?? :) xx

EDIT - TITLE HAS BEEN CHANGED SLIGHTLY TO MAKE CONTENTS CLEARER AND POST HAD BEEN PUT IN CORRECT CATEGORY -MODS

People who marry abroad have different dates. If it works for you then do it your way.

We are having a weekend wedding! The Saturday afternoon we have a civil ceremony in the city centre, have a celebratory cocktail before going to the castle for our rehersal and a meal with close family ( there will be about 15 of us). We then split up and have a blessing on the Sunday in the very beautiful castle chapel follwed by the wedding breakfast and party. We get to have an intimate and big wedding. Best of both worlds!

Many people who marry abroad do this so that those who miss out on the wedding day and ceremony get to take part in the celebration.

The Chinese have 2 dates, , theyhave a legal ceremony on one day then often months later have the traditional Chinese ceremony and wedding banquet, sometimes even the ceremony and banquet are on different days xx
