    Hi Joseph,
Welcome to the site, everyone on here is super friendly and will help you with anythign you need. I would say the very first thing in planningto do is sit down honestly and talk about money. Wrtie down exactly how much is coming in every month and how much is going out and that will allow you to determine how much you can save and how long it wil take to save the money you want to spend on your day. Also write out your guest list, this will help when picking out a venue. You will either only look at venues that will hold all of your guests or you will then know if you fall inlove with a smaller venue that you will have to drastically cut your list but it will make the choice much easier. With a budget and guest numbers sorted you will be able to start the first part of your planning which is finding the perfect venue and setting hte date xx

    UNRESTRICTING YOUR PROFILE:
If you want to 'make friends' with fellow members, you will need to 'unrestrict' your profile. You will also need to do this so fellow members can leave helpful links on your wall (as no links are allowed on the forum).
    How to unrestrict your profile-
    1. Go to ‘My wedding’
    2. Scroll down to ‘my details’
    3. Once you have clicked on ‘my details’, scroll down again
    4. At the end of this section there will be a drop down box next to ‘privacy settings’ under ‘wall permissions’
    5. Click on the drop down box and select public – people can now post links on your wall and befriend you!

hi joseph, welcome to ukbride ,like the others have said youhave come to the right place for some pointers i had never even been to a wedding let alone arranged one but these ladies and gents have really helped get all the things into place.
Your first start is to work out your budget be realistic and then you can arrange things in order of importance to you to make your budget work. Then of course you hae to decide where this wedding will take place and of course when! then you can start going about finding registra and booking dates. in my opinion its always best to check dates with your registra before confirming venue date as they are not always available.(or if your a marrying in a church then obviously this will not be a problem) get a notebook! probably the most important thing to get down all those ideas and most of all have fun once you have the basics booked and organised then the real fun begins! and have a look at the home made thread on here for some amazing ieas for things you can make to personalise it.

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

I've done nothing in the way of planning, I need to start with deciding what we will each wear, my partner wants to wear a suit, but doesn't want me to wear one. Dos anyone have any ideas as to what I can wear?

why dont you both wear a suit in different colours. In all honesty the suits are not too important just now but working out a budget and a date are the first thing to do xx

Hello Joseph. Welcome to the UKBride family. Your budget, venue and date need to be the first thing to sort out. Are either of you in the military? If so one of you could wear uniform. Or do either of you have Welsh or Scottish background to qualify for wearing a kilt? Otherwise I'm not sure what options are open to you, other than different types of suits.

Welcome guys, Congrats on your engagment, Same sex marriage is simple, its exactly the same as any other marriage, the only differences is that obviously alot of religious ministers etc will not marry same sex, but you still have alot of options. x

If you are looking for a religious ceremony, then the Quakers, United Reformed Church and Unitarians are likely to offer it. If you're planning on a civil ceremony I would imagine that you'll have a reasonable choice of venues. Could you wear suits with waistcoats and ties in different colours?
