    i'm going to sign the venue contract 2morrow n wonder if any one has some good advice before its signed, do i stipulate certain things?

    check the fine print,make sure the price you sign for wont go up,,and check what their policy is on cancelations

    thanks tiggs but theyve told me over the phone i can had 2 food options do u think i should get them to put this in the contract also as initially they said it was only one option but i persuaded them to do 2 over the phone ?

    what do you need to do prior to signing contract?
    i'm going sometime this week to try and haggle price down (for them not to charge for reception room) prior to paying deposit. wish me luck x

    nearly every venue place near me i have talked to i have managed to haggle the reception room hire price down, or to nothing by saying what if i have the whole day here. Its always worth a shot xx

    I think it is always worth a haggle, I managed to get my reception to take the VAT off! I also got them to give me a set corkage price so I can bring in unlimited drinks, rather than pay per bottle.

    Just ensure your contract states everything you spoke about, and question anything you dont understand before signing. There was some wording in mine that I couldnt get my head around and after they explained what it meant, I asked them to re-write it as they had explained it!

    At the very least I would ensure that anything out of the ordinary they have offered is down in writing, even if not in the contract. It is also worth checking where they stand on holding prices at this year's as you have 28 months to go, and also where they stand on passing on increases in VAT that may well happen between now and when you get married (it's standard that these will be passed on to the person using their services, but best to clarify).
