    Hi ladies,

Just wanted to get you to bounce some opinions thoughts etc and help too!

I loved the idea of having a wedding "cheese" cake, however when my Aunty said she was going to make me a 4 tier luxury fruit wedding cake and ice it for free (she never had kids so we have always been spolied rotten by her!), I couldn't turn her down.

I still really love the idea, and being a bit of a foodie and likely to serve cheese, and with a few guests not liking fruit cake and cheese going really well with it too, I thought it could be a cool way of getting my way. Thing is, looking around online, they do appear to be quite expensive bought as wedding cakes. Also, the obvious shops to buy the cheese does seem quite pricey.

Anybody know of any good deals (post to my wall please if it's a link!), ideas etc? Also, anyone else doing one and how much are they allocating in weight per person?

    Thanks in advance ladies!

Hi hun! I too adore cheese and would love this but it is expensive so I think we may leave it out :(.... I couldn't help you with the weight per person as I could quite happily attempt my own body weight in cheese!!! (I'm a curvaceous specimen ;) lol)

    hahaha!

I've been reading 30-100g per person! I mean I know 30g is like a matchbox size so that's not great! but then again, people tend to take little slithers as opposed to vast quantities I suppose and not everybody likes cheese or can have it. They look around the £200+ mark... see some for less but not exactly what I had in mind, quality and selection wise and also size wise!

I love cheese but have to be so careful as I have some kind of reaction to most dairy other than sprinkling of parmesan or low fat cottage cheese and I seem to be OK with ricotta too.

most cheese in a small quantity I can handle, the other I bloat, get stomach cramps, wind, feel nauseus etc etc... after one episode of eating some cheddar and cheshire samples in Manchester market around October time 2011, I just was so sick... I seem to be OK with some cheese, not others, and generally OK with ice cream but I never eat much of that, and I have almond milk with cereal!

But for my guests... I want them to be wow-ed, nourished and satisfied!

Marks and sparks do ones that are quite reasonable, and I think wait rose do to....marks and sparks is about £165 to £200 I think.

To be honest, I love them but they're pretty shoddy value for money - you're paying for the novelty really - and the cheese selection isn't great, so we've just gone for a cheese table in the end xx

Yes, I think the supermarket versions probably are OTT... been thinking of trying to do my own as they all come packaged as the individual cheeses anyway that need to be stacked... May just ask the caterer what they can do. May as well give him the business too plus he can decorate it accordingly then! x
