Up until recently we'd found a perfect place for a venue called Cripps Barn in Bibury. We've wanted a medieval setting since we talked about getting married but my hopes were dashed recently when Cripps told me the only catering that could be provided was their own, and I have some seriously picky eaters and allergy-sufferers! As posh as their buffet selections are, it isn't suitable for certain tastes, so I'm kind of ticked off that I have to start again - especially as I've yet to find another venue in Swindon that I like.

Pubs are automatically ruled out, most hotel function rooms are too modern and we're unable to change. Should I just hire a large blank function room and hire some furniture?

Apparently their menu is already "catered to various" tastes when in fact if someone doesn't like fish (like my chief bridesmaid) they're screwed. I have vegans, vegetarians, IBS sufferers, wheat and gluten food allergies, nut allergies, allsorts! They just won't wiggle!

I think any venue worth hiring, would do their best to bend a little. Try this link

Sophie; just a word of advice; links aren't allowed on the forum and a mod will delete the links if they see them. Also this thread was an old one from 2010 so be sure to look at the dates before you post as bringing up old threads can spam the forum if they are not relevant.

I'm not a mod but they will tell you similar :)

If they will only let you use there catering they should be open to giving you choice, all the venues I have spoken to said they are happy to do anything that we want and can design a menu with us. Food is a big deal. I'm having my fav (hunters chicken) and oh is picking something too then 2 other main options
