some people may remember i had asked my uncle to give me away but he is very unwell and getting worse and he has said theres just no way he can do it which i totally understand and just really hope he can maybe be there at some point if he is well enough but it has left me a problem! my dad (or the sperm donner as i prefer to call him) left me when i was 6 months old , my mum remarried al lovely man who unfortunately passed away from kidney failure 13 years ago, she then was with my brothers dad alan who again was a lovely man but was killed /died of a brain heamorrage 10 years ago, she has since become involved and intends to marry heer current partner who is ok but doesnt particularly mean anythingto me and we dont always get on, he seems to be jealous of the ralationship i have with my mum. I asked my mum and she said no she didnt want to and that i should ask him .i just cant imagine it being him i have waiting with me and im sure he would try and shift focus t him somehow which also doesnt feel right. i have 4 brother 3 will be usher and 1 pageboy/ringbearer and dont want to pick one of them as it would seem i favour one , i do have a son who is 7 who i have thought about or could i just walk down on my own? starting to feel a little abandoned by my family no-one seems to want to be involved ive done everything on my own aid for everything including their outfits im starting to feel like they are just in it for a party and free food , gutted cuz thought it would be an exciting time ;/

I think your son would be great, and he would probably love it.

im thinking the same to be honest my son would be over the moon he is autistic and so will need something to keep him focused (its only mild but he does tend to get fidgety) the only problem is how everyone will react reckon im about ocause another family row as mim clearly thinks her partner should do it :/ never realised how awkward this stuff could get lol

Your son is a great idea.. Don't worry what other people think.. The person that is closest to your heart should walk you down the aisle.. Not someone who means very little to you xxx

i totally htink that georgi what im struggling with is saying it lol i really dont want to cause anymore stress my oh is already saying he is not going to be visiting them anymore as it always turns into an argument :/ urrgghh what is it about weddings that highlight all the trouble areas lol its supposed to be happy . I would love my little jack to do it but i also worry about the wobble lots of brides have said their dad or whoever was outside did a great job of calming them down urrrggghh its all too much.

31 the next is 17 then 16 , then 10. but no way could i choose between them especially as me and my younger brothers get on better. they are ushers all of them and with the reception venue being in a different place im gonna need them to do a fair bit . just wish my mum would have done it really we have always done everything together and i thought when my uncle said no that she would obviously do it but she said no she wants me to ask her partner . i guess thats why im making excuses for not having anyone else :/ right think im going to go it alone if i have no-one then i can upset no-one its not a legal requirement to have someone give you away is it?

No course it's not hun.. You could always be sneaky and have your brothers and son walk down in front of you so you're not totally alone.. Say your 10YO and 16YO bro in front, your 17YO bro and son in the middle and your eldest bro behind them with you following ? Technically on your own, but still with your most important boys there too :-) xxx

I defo think your son. And if your family dont like it tough. Perhaps say that as he is your son (and only son im assuming) that you would rather him do it than pick between your mums partner and brothers?

Why don't you get your son to walk in front of you and carry one of those 'Here come's the Bride' signs? That way it's like he's giving you away plus it will give him a job to do x

I know you said you can't chose between your brothers, but what about the oldest brother as he is the oldest & as there is such an age gap between them surely the others would understand!! I have two brothers and it would always be the older brother who did give me away and like your brothers but not as much there is an age gap!! ( my dad pasted away 18yrs ago) plus being the oldest sibling he was closest to both my parents ( mum also past away 19yrs ago) and knew them the longest!! X

Your son giving you away sounds lovely, but if he doesnt want to I dont think there is aproblem with going down the aisle on your own, but maybe a childhood friend? or your moh? xxx

im not having anyone give me away as i already live with my partner and have 2 children with him i dont feel this is necessary, i know everyones circumstance are different but you just need to choose who you want to give you away im sure your day will be perfect whoever you pick :) xx

yea think im gonna go the same way heidi and go it alone any other decisions are going to cause arguments! plus im not happy with any of them. i kind of would of liked my son but i think its too much pressure for him and he really wants to do the rings. my MOH is my sis and that wouldnt be right (her and my h2b cheated on me when we first got together its done now and we got passed it but i wouldnt want her beside me so to speak walking towards him with her would feel totally wrong! what if he thought he had made wrong choice lol) so its going to be just me simple if they dont like they can lump it!!!

I walked down on my own. I didn't want anybody with me, my dad wasn't there and I didn't feel the need for an alternative. I changed it a little by having ushers walk down with the bridesmaids so I was the only one entering alone.
