We're trying to do ours on a budget too, but we both have big families! Guest list is 80 for the day, up to 110 for the evening (but I hope far less than that!!)

The dress - £750. Victoria Jane dress from Confetti & lace.
    The shoes - £30
The suit - Rental £57 each, for 4, including everything but shoes. (BM, FOB, 2 ushers, H2B will be wearing his army uniform)
Bridesmaids dresses - £70 each for 3 from Deb-hams, bought when 25% off!
    Flower girl/s - £N/A
    Best man/ ushers - £(suits above)
Hair and make up - Aiming for 200 for me & BMs, planning to go to salon on the day as its far cheaper!
Flowers - £N/A - Dad is doing bouquets :) I am making centre pieces with evergreen cut from the forest and pine cones collected.
Cake- £N/A - Mum making the cake, brother's GF decorating it :)
Invites - £100 max. Making them oursleves
Ceremony -£500 (military church so had to pay extra charges)
Transport - £100 - using high end taxi company in stead of official wedding cars. Bentley still, but a fraction of the cost!
Photographer - £625 including all images on disk plus album
    Videographer? - £N/A
    Reception - £4,500
    Dj/ band - £800
Favours - £50 - making Scottish tablet myself so only pay ingredients, then little bags to put them in from the Bay-E
How many guests - 80 day, 100ish evening.
What day - Saturday in December
    Other costs???

RINGS!!! Don't forget your rings! I'm getting mine from the jewellery quarter in Birmingham. Its only £100 and its exactly what I want, so why pay more? H2B doesnt really want one because of his job, but has said he'll have a cheap one so its there.

Also paying an extra £100 to stay the night before as its over an hour from home.

Also, don't forget to factor in postage for invites. Depending on how many you have, it can add up to quite a lot with the price of stamps now!

So ours is going to be about £8,000 in total.

Lana, we saved a huge amount (£25 per head) on our venue just by telling them there were things we didnt want. We took off chair covers (I dont care what the chairs look like, and in a 4* hotel they are nice anyway!) we have a friend doing master of ceremonies so dont need one of them, changed the evening buffet to bacon sandwiches. That saved us a HUGE amount. £20ish a head for a buffet, £6 for bacon rolls! And people prefer them. Their package included name places and table plan, we're doing that.

Look at venue packages and never accept them at face value. Take off things you dont want. As our wedding is December, we've asked for mulled cider as a welcome drink instead of champagne or pimms and that's saved about £1.50 per person.

Hmmm, i havnt really set a budget. Although we will not be planning the small bits till January next year, so i guess we will sort it out then. This is a great thread to give a sort of average price for items. X

Venue: was about 4000, including 8 rooms for the night and exclusive use. Did not include meals though.
Photographer and videographer: about 2000 for all the day. its expensive but we put most of our money on that to have permanent reminders of the day.

@lana - yes, I know- these figures on here are a bit all over the place. The budget is closer to £11,000. The total spend so far is £7460. If we max out on our budget, we should get close to £9800, but this won't be the case. We will have around £1200 or so left over, all being well :-)

Thanks for pointing it out though :-)

    Saved on dress; ex-sample
Friday wedding: used this to bargain and asked for discounts on venue, dj, photography , transport
    Dj instead of band
Using a luxury car in taxi firm rather than a wedding car co.
    Shopped around and online
    Doing sweets table : friend
Put together honeymoon instead of a package deal
My wedding will cost about 19000 but only because I have about 200 guests for the breakfast and reception
