I was planning on making a DIY order of service - because I thought it was the done thing.
A couple of my friends said you usually only have OoS at church weddings, to include hymns /prayers etc .
I thought people needed an idea of times for photos/breakfast/first dance etc but they advised me weddings rarely run to planned times anyway.

    Are they right?

We are getting married at registry office and breakfast/reception in a different place.

i don't think we will have them but mainly because our wedding is so small it will be easy to go round the drinks reception and just tell people whats happening next... but i think yours sound lovely, because of the paragraph about your loved ones who can not be with you, i think you should do it :) x

sorry - it's late, georgi i thought yours was the first post. DOH. silly me.

almost mrs b, if you want ootd you could always just not put times? just so people know what order to expect thigns and whats going on but not times so you don't stress yourself about it sticking to a time frame? xx

What a great idea not to put times, just list of events in the order I kind of expect them to go. Could make them very informal too.

But.. are they usual at registry office weddings? Or would you only expect them at church weddings?

I think as just an order of service they aren't really necessary for a civil ceremony, however if you're adding a schedule of events for the day then they could be quite useful. I would keep the times though since they serve as a guide for when things will happen. Most people know that things may not happen exactly on time but at least a schedule with give them a point of reference.

We had to give notice at the Registry Office last week and the Registra printed out our 'Wedding Script' which H2B asked for a copy.
It has the order of the ceremony so we've just printed them and using them in the OoS.
We're having a reading so have put that in there too.
