My partner is Scottish and would like to wear is clan kilt, firstly I am a little worried that the colours wont go with the colour theme of the wedding, also my Dad who will give me away would prefer not to wear a kilt... Am I being evil if I say no to kilts full stop or would my Dad be able to wear a suit whilst the groom and the best man wore there kilts? Would this look stupid? Any advice would be grateful.

I think if h2b is in a kilt and the rest of the men in suits or tails it'll look fine hun and then h2b will stand out too from the rest of the men in the bridal party. Don't worry about the kilt clashing with the colour scheme, I think it will look fine and actually very nice x

I don't think it will look weird. My OH, his BM and our son (PB) will all be in kilts but my Dad will be in a suit and I have to say my OH looks amazing in his kilt

My h2b is scottish and he too was thinking of wearing the family kilt! If he did him and the best man would be the only ones in them the rest would wear suits so yep I think it would look fab!

Same here, H2B is scottish, but i have talked him out of official rangers tartan and into grey spirit, my dad has agreed to wear the kilt .. tho i dont really want my pure yorkshire dad to be wearing a kilt to be honest. So im thinkin grey tail coats to match.

when my uncle who is scottish married my welsh auntie, the groom, the groomsmen and the guests who were scottish wore kilts, it looked fine. What are your wedding colours as the same tartan can have many different variations. xx

I don't know if it helps but my family are Scottish and Irish, his are English. My brothers will all be wearing a matching a kilt and a number of guests from my side will be but Groomsmen and Groom and FOB wont be wearing kilts. I am hoping it looks nice having a some suits, some kilts etc. like a big eclectic mix of cultures :)

It really wont look weird at all. My H2B is wearing a kilt, with button hole ribbons to match, my Dad is Welsh (though I am also Scottish as is H2B) and is also hiring a Kilt in Dress Stewart colours as his grandparents were Scottish too. Other gentlemen coming are in either kilts or suits. It doesn't make it look out of place. My theme colours are black and white with hints of silver. His kilt is dark green with blue, red and white, and my father's is a creamy light ivory, red and white. So basically all the colours possible different to my theme. It wont look odd :) Not in my opinion anyhow!
Your H2B might be a little offended if you tell him outright no, might be worth asking if it is truly important to him that he wear it. There is no chance whatsoever that Dave wouldn't wear his, it is integral to him, and his family.

Let those who want to wear kilts wear them and those who dont wear suits. My whole bridal party except from my scottish fil will be wearign kilts. he refuses point blank and i could strangle him for it but i got 2 years to wear him down x
