I think it differs for each country hun. I know my friend married a German fella and the pal-lava they had to go through there to get the legal translations meant that they ended up getting married at our local registry office. Much more cost effective.
There are a few ladies on here that have got married in Cyprus and Greece, so they may be able to give you a better idea. But as for me, well we made it easy and got married in Vegas LOL!
Vegas baby!

It definitely depends on the country, a lot of countries documents are in or available in English.

I am sure the travel agents and even the holiday brochures could tell you what will be in English. Were looking at getting married in the Carribean and when we visit the travel agents that's the first thing i will be checking.
If you have a marriage certificate in a foreign language, you then have to get it translated into English to be able to use it as ID over here. You may also need to check if this is the case whether or not the country you got married in has to translate the certificate for you and there will be a cost for this i believe.
hey thanks guys we were looking at St Lucia which i know is english speaking but the price is going up and up at the moment but just looking for a back up plan. I do really like the idea of cyprus as always wanted to go there so thats english? Thanks Lala i'll check out that website x

We are getting married in Thailand. We need to provide copies of our passports to the UK embassy in Bangkok and sign affirmations to marry. We then have to have those documents translated in to Thai and then head to the Thai marriage registration office to submit the documentation. Once that's done the papers are couriered to Phuket where we plan to marry and then the Amphur then confirms the marriage and issues the certificate on the day we marry!

Hi Girls, a little help if possible me and my Fiance are looking at getting married in Crete, we have already spoken to a wedding planner in relation to sorting the legalities out but to try and make things a little less costly we were thinking of arranging everything else ourselves, cakes, photography, flowers etc. First question is this advisable or would this make things more stressful? Secondly do any of you know any good suppliers in Crete that maybe able to help us out?
Thanks Take Care & Keep Smiling Beccy xx
We originally met through a Greek Island
13th September 2014 on the same Island of Crete
We will become Husband & Wife xxx
