Well the wedding is getting nearer and we are sorting out readings etc for the order of service. Should I have been in touch with the registrar by now? It says on the letter they will contact me a month before. With the vows are their certain ones to choose from? I don't want to write my own, would really like an idea of what kind of vows their are. Thanks

I'd contact them and ask. Doesn't matter that you're ringing slightly earlier, our registrar sent us out a pack of info with the different vowels we could choose from - we just have to fill in a form and post our choices to them. x

We got our pack after we had had a meeting with them to confirm we weren't related in anyway etc lol.
And the same with you lizzylou we just have to fill in the form circle the options of what vows we want etc along with the music choices if our own then need to send a CD to them and then away we go. I'm assuming you will need to send them soonish if you're getting married in couple of months, have you had your pack yet?

We had a pack sent to us with various choices of inserts to choose from. Haven't yet got to the 12 month before stage when we need to have the "meeting" and confirm everything. My h2b wants us to write our own vows, or at least jokes that he does, I'm not sure if we can do this, it would be lovely if we could

We took our pack away with us when we gave notice. We had to fill in a form with music choices, how many bridesmaids and any readings and the bits like that.

We got a form with all the different vows when we gave notice of marriage so they should've given you one then but they'll need it soon so you should ask them to send you one x x

you can write your own but they have to be approved by the Registrar apparently - as does any additional reading (probably need to check it for references to religion) - our Registrar (we met for 1st time las week so it's fresh in my mind) said that they have to have the paperwork in a while before the date, if they don't then they'll chase you up (this is also when you pay the remainder of the fee) - mind that could just be for round here.

I know this is going to sound really stupid but because we aren't getting married in a church....... do they still ask.... "do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" and do you still say "I do"? ..... and "you may kiss the bride" etc I got a bit confused by the wedding pack I got sent but dont want to call and seem crazy as my wedding is over a year away yet :p lol
