We havn't had one yet :-( we were gonna book one couple months ago (coz we got engaged xmas eve) but everyone's just skint so have been worried people wouldn't make it.

We were debating taking both parents for a meal and a few drinks to celebrate it, then have our friends round for a BBQ booze-up when the weather gets better. (We bought our first house in October just gone so would be nice for people to come see it who havn't already)

Yeah all this recession is horrible, Id rather wait til the people I really want there could afford it than throwing one earlier and not having them there.

Congratulations by the way - bet that was lovely for christmas day!

Me and my H2B got engaged on the 17th December last year, because of christmas and family birthdays etc, we are having an engagement party 2 weeks this saturday on the 3rd April :) Wooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We got an hall booked for 100 people, a bar, disco, kitchen etc. We have loadsa of balloons being delivered on the day, my mum has paid for a love heart shaped cake which is personalised, got a huge buffet, chocolate fountain etc.

My H2B bought me a lovely evening dress in purple, with matching high heels and shrug. Got my hair being proffessionally coloured, styled and curled for that night.
    So excited hehe

How much did they say they wanted Nikki??

We are paying £70 at a hall round the corner from us which includes the garden, carpark for vistors, bar staff, DJ, disco, kitchen hire, the hall, and thats for 5 - 6 hours

Was £250 providing we use their DJ and buffet (but charge was per head for the buffet @ £13 a head)

If we chose to have our buffet it was £400 but still had to use their DJ.

I thought it was far too much.

Yer that is far too much, we are providing our own buffet, but they said that we could either have the DJ in the price or pay someone else so worked out pretty cheap.

Also as well as they provide a kitchen with the hire, for my older guests we are allowed to bring tea, coffee etc as they provide a kettle and fridge. Also if we need to cook more food there is an oven and microwave and dishwasher for the dirty plates etc

I had a middle floor flat before this house, Im more buzzin using the washing line and saving electric not hammering the dryer haha.

The garden needs a canny bit work first like so hoping to sort that out before hand.

We are having an engagement party at the end of july and to spend as little cash as possible we are getting everyone to muck in, my friend is providing the venue - a barn, my cousin is giving us hay bales for seating, my friends band are playing for us, our families are taking different dishes for the buffet and we are making as much home brew that is possible and the dress code is wellies denims and check shirts, the accomadation for the guests that cant make it home they can pitch a tent just outside the venue. We are aiming for rustic country chick lol
