Wedding Forum - Formula 1 Gift...

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share with you a bit of success I've had!

Rob is a huge F1 fan and I saw a few other brides saying they were writing to their H2Bs favourite football team to get a congrats card so I thought I would do something similar.

About 2 weeks ago I sent a letter to every F1 team, the drivers, BBC broadcasters and some of the old legends, telling them about Rob and our plans to get married and asking if they could send anything.

Yesterday I came home to a personal letter from Frank Williams (Founder of Williams F1) congratulating Rob and comparing a successful marriage to a successful F1 team! Today I had a letter from Red Bull Racing saying they were very sorry but as Mark and Sebastian were so busy they didn't have the time to organise a proper congrats card but instead as compensation they each signed one of their driver cards for Rob! These are genuine autographs!

I'm so amazed at the kindness and what you can get for just asking. At most I was hoping for maybe a printed signature on a poster but so far both of these teams have taken the time to reply to me personally and provide me with great stuff!

Hopefully more will keep coming. I'm going to put them all in a special album for Rob and will give it to him at our reception. I just know he is going to love it.

So remember ladies if you don't ask you don't get. My advice though would be to make any letter you send personal and applicable to the people you are writing to, I made sure in each letter to mention the things about the team that Rob liked and congratulating for any recent successes. I also found as many different addresses as I could for each team so I could be sure the letter would get to the right people.

OMG why didn't i think of this!!! i MUST do this as both me and my h2b are massive fans too. i didn't think they'd actually write back never mind give you autographs as congrat. wow wow wow. i love this!!!!!!! thank you xxxxx

i got h2b a signed photo of jenson button (his fav driver) but he's had that already (we had a hard time of things back in april and i decided to give it to him then to cheer him up), you've reminded me that i need to get something sent off to manchester united for my dad as hes 60 in september.

i think my h2b would melt like ice cream for me if i was to give him something from lewis hamilton. he's been his fan since before he went into f1 xx

a boss from one of my old jobs gave me a mclaren jacket for my 18th birthday. unfortunatly it says mika on it but never mind :/

well at the time he was driving and it was only a year out of date. plus i was a bit upset as i was a major schmaccer fan at time lol.
and shhhh you're making me feel old saying you was at school lol

How did you get the info on where to write? My OH is a massive golf fan and would be great to get him something from Phil Mickleson! xx

Oh that is bad! How can anyone love Alonso? That attitude of his stinks, spoilt little brat who needs his eyebrows tweezed!

Something from Lewis would absolutely make Robs day! That's how the plan started and then I thought well if I'm going to ask one driver I might as well ask them all!

Yeh big F1 fan but don't like Alonso, cheeky and cocky SOB. Always been a Schumi fan since a child.

They are fab, wrote years ago wanting to work in F1 about how to get in it and they wrote back with ideas and ways I could work as a PT and Sports therapist to drivers.

Given me a idea to get in touch with Peter Gabrial as OH is a huge fan, have bought tickets to see him in O2 in Oct as wedding present.

I sent out letters to Mclaren, Mercedes, Red bull, Williams, top gear and couple of others not heard anything back yet sent them last month :( x

Wow so that didnt take too long to get! Im definately going to try my best to get my h2b some things like this.
He LOVES F1 but loves newcastle united even more! So going to try my hardest to get something from them!

Hi everyone, I love this idea and really want to do this for my OH! Hes such a big F1 fan I have just surprised him with grand prix tickets for his Birthday (as it was a special one - 30!) I would love to do this as it would link in!

Question though please -- how do you find out the addresses to write to?!xxx

Wow what a great idea. My h2b does love formula one but like moto gp more so may have to enquiry to the lovely men in leathers for something nice :)

Brilly they did take some time replying. Waited over a month for most to respond. Mclaren did write back though, they said basically as it was f1 season and with the amount of letters they get they couldnt get hand signed postcards but popped in some driver cards and a letter from everyone at mclaren wishing us a fantastic day. xx

I would love to do this, my h2b is a MASSIVE fan, but I have no idea what to include in my letter :s I have had a go at draft letters but they all sound stupid :( Could some please help me? or even send me theres to get some ideas from? I am totally baffled and want to get a letter sent out before I start back at uni full time.

Wow thats amazing what a lovely personalised message! I hope I have some luck, I'm struggling to research addresses etc H2B always seems to lurk at the wrong moment lol x
