We are having a registry office Wedding with a capacity of 37. I think my plan is to invite close close family. Then everyone else will meet up at the reception venue where we will do everything from photo's onwards. I'm treating the actual wedding as a bit of a formailty and concentrating my efforts for the day on the reception afterwards. I think when you can only fit a small number of people in the RO then you gotta make some sacrifices on who attends.

I have 2 children and I wouldn't be able to, and wouldn't choose to attend a wedding where I couldn't take my children with me. But if no one from your family is going to be put in a situation where they cannot attend then asking children not to attend is a logical choice. After all they don't fully get what's going on and make a lot of noise!! At my sisters wedding my then 6 month old tried to steal someones hat and spent the whole Wedding "singing".

We are also having a reg office wedding. We have asked our close friends and family along and for close friends we have asked if it would be possible not to bring their kids until the reception which they were all perfectly happy with. (For one we could never afford the extra 12 children that there would have been and ALL 12 are under 6 which was another reason!) If they are close they should completely understand if you would prefer them not to be there. We do have out niece and nephew going thought as they are close family. Its your day and your choice and everyone is different! :)

We're having a registry office wedding, but we're allowing children because there will only be 2 or 3 (we are the first people in our families generation to get married/start a family) if there are loads of kids in your family then I would do the same as you and say not to anyone under 18 (it also means that you can play any music and book any entertainment without fear of offending any parents/traumatising any sprogs)

I dont think its wrong if thats what you both want. We've put close family and friends with their children on the day list which is registry office and fish and chip supper. There are people we would love to have at the registry office but they wont fit as we're limited to 50 people. We were thinking of inviting them straight for the reception/fish and chips so they only miss the actual ceremony part then xx

Registry office weddings last around 20 minutes. They give a list of legal vows that you have to say and I think you can add your own words as well with approval of the registrar. They aren't all a bland 5 minute job.

We have a choice of two vows one is traditional and the other is a bit more modern. I recommend you ring them up and ask them about your queries but I imagine the choice of vows to be the same whether you are getting married in the registry office or hotel.

Our registry office do a standard ceremony where you say their words and have their music, so we have opted for an enhanced ceremony where we choose and say our own vows, promises and choose our own music and the ceremony is slightly longer :)

Yeah im getting maried in registry office too. When we went for our appt and to give our notice of marriage we were given a folder with booklets in about the service,We get to choose our own music,a choice of vows,me and h2b are also saying a little extra after our vows and we have the MOH and usher (my nephew) reading a poem each. They said ours will last around half an hour.We were going to get married in the church where my nan and grandad got married but it worked out alot more expensive and the priest said that in the end it will be up to him to decide if we are ready to be married and if he feels like we are not ready to be married he can cancel the wedding anytime up to a week before,i just cant take that risk, and surely myself and H2B are the only ones who know when we are ready to be married!? so thats why we opted for the registry office, much more simple and straight forward to organise and lots cheaper too.The room where we will be getting married has quite a long 'Aisle' too so i still get to walk down the aisle with my dad to H2B waiting for me :) Our room can accomadate 60 people too which is great as we only have 49 attending for the day time :) Sorry for such a long reply i got a bit carried away :p lol xx

I would be happy to have one, if our registry office was nice, but its not, watching dttb and 4weddings you see lovely registry offices but ours is rather awefull and run down, you can get married in the building nextdoor which is lovely but you have to pay full registra fees like you were getting married miles away so not worth it,
