Hi Ladies, I was wondering who does the speeches, and when. Our wedding reception is at 4.30 and food is around an hour or so after that, do we do the speeches and gifts after food. We have 2 best men, my dad & step dad (step dad doesnt want to do a speech or dance) and groom. I was wondering if any of you ladies were planning on saying anything.

We're having a small wedding, with just 17 close family and friends, we have asked my 21 yr old son to do a speech, (he is giving me away as I lost my Dad to cancer 20 mnths ago), H2B's Best Man is doing a speech, and H2B, not decided if I am or not yet, would like to but I'm so shy when it comes to things like that, I'm not sure yet. And maybe H2B's Dad. I think we will be doing the speeches before our have our meal at the reception, our meal is 2.30pm.

I have decided I am going to. I don't have a dad or father figure and my son who will be 16 will be giving me away. He won't want to do a speech so I decided I will. My MOH and BM don't like the limelight so I wouldn't ask them to so it will be Me first, then Best Man and then Groom. Although knowing who the best man is I am tempted to go last and see what he says first lol. xx

1 date set. I will finally become Mrs A in December 2013!
im not doing a speech as such but its my nans birthday and it would have been there wedding reception on the day we get married so i will be saying a little something in honour of them. he was basically my dad when my dad left, they bought me up from the age of 5 so i wont be able to let the day go by without saying something will do it nearer the end of the night though i think though, might ruin my make up lol x

i'd do your speeches just before you annouce the food to keep them focused thats what we are going to do and im certainly not going to be doing a speech , im not great at public speaking and i always come out in a rash across my neck and bust .. so i will leave that for the others .. xx
looking forward to being Mrs Embo :)
CommentAuthorVickie
I won't be doing speech, I will just tell OH to thank everyone from both of us. I am really not in to public speaking, bad enough in uni with 30 people, never mind 100.
Good luck to those who are doing speeches. You are all brave ladies. xxx
CommentAuthorMrsShaw
i did, not a massive speech, i gave out the presents... i was nervous and acted all cocky.. everyone started applauding the best man as he sat down and i stood up and started waving my arms about telling people i still had my bit to say haha!
xx

We are having a pretty traditional wedding however, I do want to stand up and personally say thanks to my mum and MOH as they have been brilliant and have helped an unbelievable amount with the wedding planning.
We are keeping that bit a secret so they don't know about it, just that the groom is going to have a slightly shorter speech than in the plan and then I'll pop up and say my thankyous.
CommentAuthorHobbitBeth
I'd like to, but i'm such a blabber! It will just be for definate, H2B, Best Man and my Dad at the minute. I might make a surprise and do one after them :)

Noooooo way! I'll leave all the thank yous from me and Andy to Andy in his speech lol, I'll do the running around with the gifts. Really don't fancy standing up and speaking in front of everyone, it's bad enough I have to say my vows with everyone listening, not great with an audience unless I'm playing the piano :S x
