    Hi everyone,

This is my first post because I've been running around like a headless chicken for the last 2 months (we moved our wedding date for family reasons and only have 3 and a half months left to do EVERYTHING) ... Anyway, we've got to the stage of writing our vows and I have no idea what to say. We're writing the promise bit together so that should be ok, but the bit where your supposed to say how much you love your husband/wife is causing me issues.

I love him, that bit is not causing problems. The bit where you're supposed to gush about the rest of your lives together IS causing problems. I'm not the kind of person who makes grand declarations of love. Infact, if I'm totally honest, I have a the tendancy to be a bit cold and guarded about my feelings, but this is our wedding day and if I can't do it now then.... I don't know what, but still, I'm sure you get what I mean.

Basically, I don't know where to begin with this and searching the Internet hasn't helped me all that much. I have a feeling that if I can't sort my head out and write something soon, I'm going to end up with "I'm obviously nuts, why are you marrying me?"

Does anyone have any advice to help me deal with the "love is terrifying" brain-melt that has set in?

I am rubbish at this sort of thing lol so we are going with the tradional vows just adding bits I found from a second time around site......cheating lol!

Erm just talk about how you met what you thought of him and how he made you feel, how your going to make him happy for the rest of your lives and what you hope the furture brings??

I don't think you need to do the professing love thing in the vows, cause that's not really what vows are for, they're the promises you're making to each other. You could make a brief mention of it. Like, I'm marrying you today because you are the love of my life and I never want to be with out you and so I promise blah blah blah, but a full love professing speech is probably best left for the speeches at the breakfast!

    My thoughts anyway.

If you end up gushing and its not you, u wont feel right so looking on internet for things to say wont reflect what you feel.

Dont worry about it so much, the words will come. You wouldn't be marrying ur OH if u didnt plan on spending the rest of ur life with him, so i would personally just chill and let the words come to u.

    :) xx

    Happily Married! :) xxx

LegoBride: the promises come after this bit. So its this bit with the feelings, then the promises to indulge his zombie apocalypse obsession etc.

B2BNicola: thanks, I will try my best :)

Goth meets geek (we're odd) lol. But rather than promising all the standard stuff, we're probably going to have things like "I promise not to complain when you take over the dining room to play warhammer" and "I won't cling like that emo girl from those books with the sparkly vampires"

Ah I see ,I see, I assumed you were having a standard ceremony didn't realise you were customising it loads. That's awesome. I wish I could fit zombies into my wedding! But with Lego and Pokémon that might be pushing it a little lol :)

I have a feeling that yours is going to be awesome too :)

Andrew is convinced that a Zombie Apocolypse is going to happen so we have an evacuation plan complete with meeting point, who gets which supplies and how we fortify our hide-out. There is no convincing him that we probably don't need this plan, but I suppose it can be adjusted for other end-of-the-world situations.

I also now have a first draft so I'm panicking less ... Now I need to be able to say it without bursting into tears and ruining my make-up.
