Hi, cannot seem to find any previous posts but sure there will be some lol.

I have been told that my hair is in good condition but it's always a greasy nightmare!

I have about 5 different shampoos/conditioners in my bathroom and just do not know what to try next???

I'm having to wash it everyday which I know is not the best but then again, as soon as I have washed and blow dried to me it looks greasy not long after!! Plus I want to get out of the habit of washing it daily so I haven't got to worry on the day and honeymoon.

I have dark brown coloured hair, shoulder length (though am growing it for the wedding).

    Any suggestions welcome :-)

    Thank you xxxx

This may seem like a really silly suggestion but are you sure you wash your conditioner out properly? Only asking because I know that when I dont my hair goes greasy very quickly (especially if it is treseme!) xx

I have the same problem as you hun .... then I started using Toni and Guy shampoo and conditioner which I bought from Bo ots - it's great! I usually wash my hair every day but since using this, I can leave it for a day and it doesn't look greasy x

Hi i have always had greasy hair, even as a baby! I have always had to wash it every day if i wanted it to look nice.On the plus side my hair has always been in fantastic condition, shiny and healthy and grew really fast which i imagine was as a consequence of the fact that it was well oiled!I used to envy friends that could wash their hair once or twice a week but then they would suffer from dry, brittle ends and splits which i never had.I always thought that i would grow out of this but i never did,i am 42 now and still wash my hair every day but i am used to it!Sorry there are no miracle cures and that dry shampoo is awful,it makes your hair dull and lifeless.
I would say to wash your hair daily in a mild/gentle shampoo, only ever condition the ends and relish the fact that you have beautiful shiny clean hair xxx

Try buying proper shampoo and conditonar from your hair salon.... its expensive but lasts longer. Highstreet stuff is very water based so doesnt last as long but salon stuff is more contracted so you need less anyway and in the long run probably costs less anyway and the salon can also recommended the best stuff for you hair.

I have to slightly disagree with you millz090. Buy your shampoo from Tk maxx. They have salon brands like fudge but they are cheaper than the hairdresser (unless she is a very good friend and sells it you at trade price )
I too have to wash my hair every other day at work but thats because I wear a hat all day.

Yeah good idea but would suggest you go to your hairdresser first for advice on the right one then can source it at cheaper places.

i have thin greasy hair and was told if you constantly wash it your getting rid of natural oils which come on more when you wash hence the greasy oily hair. when im not working i dont wash my hair. i let it get greasy and wash it with a deep cleaanse shampoo like neutrogena does one. if you keep doing that it eventually doesnt become greasy as it doesnt have to release extra. my hair is still a bit greasy but not near half as bad. only condition once a week too. these tips were given to me by a trainer hairdresser at my local college. i went along as a model for my cousin years ago. ive told loads of others and they have had the same effect. try it see if it works for you. oh and for a shine rinse your hair in cold water too she told me. the shine more natural and less oily. xxxx

my top tip, works for me, get some tea tree oil, it's 99p at B&m, add 2-3 drops to your usual shampoo.

it works fab for greasy hair, dandrufff and is a nit repellant too lol

    Louait has some good advice.

My hair gets greasy quickly and the best thing that's stopped it is to just not use conditioner. Like Louait says only condition it once a week if you have to, but only put it on the ends and avoid the roots. Rinsing with cooler water also helps and it's easier to tell if you've rinsed it all out properly.

Conditioner replaces the oils lost in shampooing so if you have oily hair and your ends aren't dry at all you really don't need to use it.

Dry shampoo is good for in between washes, it soaks up some of the oiliness on your roots so doesn't look like the needs washing as bad.

I probably get away without washing my hair for about 3 days now.

I had to stop using conditioner a few years ago, made mine look greasy after washing it lol

My hair dresser gave me a shampoo especially for greasy hair but it didn't do anything for me and it made my hair stink lol but some good ideas on here which I may also try :)

was also told that using stuff like pantene has things in it that coats your hair but doesnt properly wash so using either a cheap shampoo or a deep cleansing one gets rid of everything. as long as your hair squeaks you know its clean. after the cold rinse i do a squeak test. also if you use loads of products in your hair this can buildup and cause the hair to excrete more to protect the hair also. and people dont think i listen to them ha ha ha xxx

I know a great way but it is rather minging and you may want to lock yourself away for a couple of days but here goes....

Don't wash your hair for a week! Tie it back and leave it be, when you next wash it, it will be gorgeous and you can then leave it another couple of days. You have to train your hair and you have time before your big day too. Good luck xxxx

Completely agree with above post from Hayley. I used to wash my hair everyday then a new hairdresser said to me (4 years ago) that I needed to stop that as it was really bad for my hair. Rather than leave it a week, I just left it to every other day, then left 2 days between and gradually built up. I can now go 6 days before it needs washing. By the 7th day, it's starting to get greasy again. It takes time and a bit of patience but it'll be the best thing you can do for it :)
It's such a relief to not have to wash my hair everyday - it's very long so it's a pain in the back side LOL!

my hair is the same although im blonde miy roots look gingery if i dont wash it daily i just put talc on mine coz its cheap lol but coz ur hair is dark u can get a dry shampoo for brunnettes, make sure u use a clarifying shampoo and if ur hair is in good nic then u dont always need to use conditioner only use conditioner if ur hair desperately needs it! x

Have you tried washing it with just shampoo and then when you're drying your hair, use spray-in conditioner? Either that Elvive nutri gloss extra light is pretty good :)
