both myself and my H2B have agreed that we hate wedding speeches so do not want any ... now we cant think of anything to do instead to say thank-you for being there on our big day. It is the thought of being sat there listening to people going on about everything that we already know it just seems pointless to us.. we just want something a little more fun and memorable please could i ask for some idea`s on what we could do. thanks in advance x

What about a little video montage, get a photo of all your guests and mix them in with a few thank you's and play it on a projector screen?
If only life could be one long tea break

my brother did'nt allow any other speaches but just him and his wife to stand up and say thank you, they handed out thank you gifts to members of the familey which had helped them x

Were not having speechs either as we dont like them! We are going to hand out the gift bags and memory boxes after the cake is cut as that is our dessert

We're not having speeches either! I would HATE to stand up on my own and make a speech so I don't expect my family to do it!
We will both stand up together and say thank you and hand out the gifts also
If people want to do a speech then they can but I wont be demanding it. Me and H2B will stand and say a few thank yous and hand out gifts but thats it so far. Havent put much thought into this to be honest!

We are not having speeches either, so as that would normally be the time for the toast, what we are doing is being introduced into the room by the venues master of ceremonys, and go straight into cutting the cake......this will provide a reason for the toast. then while we eat they cut it up for us and its ready to serve with tea/coffee after the meal. We are only having 18 guests so I am sure we will have time to go around all of them and say a personal thank you to them for coming.
I can resist anything but temptation

Hiya, I don't really want to have speeches either, I would hate to have to do it myself and I know those closest are pretty much the same! I can't think of anything to do instead of the speeches so far so i'm gonna bookmark this and keep checking back just incase, but I think we're just gonna mingle and thank everyone individually and maybe because we are pretty much making everything ourselves write a personal note on everyones wedding favour box... x Let me know if you think of anything :)

Agree with all you guys, don't think people should feel they have to speak if don't want to and you should just do whatever you like on your day :) :) We might just have best man speech and then H2b and I will do thank yous.

We decided we weren't having speeches either, as the best man doesn't like public speaking and I actually thought my dad didn't either. However, at the reception (and after a few quick glasses of wine lol) my dad stood up and made a lovely speech and quite unexpected.
The biggest surprise though was when my husband stood up, complete with written speech that even I didn't know about lol. He really surprised me and really made the reception as it wasn't just the typical 'thanks for coming' speech. I think what made it better was the fact that I didn't know anything about it.
