normally you would thank the bride's parents for paying for the wedding, the maid of honour, best man, groom's parents (for whatever they've done)

now, the only people i want to thank is my aunt for giving us 1k towards the wedding, my great aunt who is sewing bit of my wedding dress and my h2b (for choosing me lol)

i DO NOT want to thank his mum at all. she's done nothing financially or shown the slightest bit of interest in the wedding. i know she won't come to cyprus and i would say there is a 25% chance she won't come to the do back home (5min drive away from her house).

    is this wrong of me??

if she HAS to be thanked, i will not be doing it and h2b can do it. i refuse. i would gladly not invite her at all. i'm disgusted by her

sorry, this has just turned into a general rant, but every day i am more and more disgusted by her

Hmm it's a tough one as I think it would be making more of a statement by not thanking her if you know what I mean... may cause friction on your day? If nothing else, she gave you h2b :) x

the thing is though your not really supposed to thank them jmnust because of the wedding - its meant to be showing your appreciation for everything they have done in all your life that has lead you to this point.

    We are the same.
It will be through gritted teeth if we do say thank you to his mum and step dad. They haven't offered to help, keep saying they are broke even though they are on holiday 3 weeks before our wedding and going on a New York shopping trip just after. Also they are paying for her best friend and husbands all inclusive 2 week holiday to Cyprus so they have their friends at our wedding.

Steves real dad has helped us by giving us £500 before xmas and another £1000 (today yeeyyy) but he won't be able to be there as his medication prevents him from flying and we can't publicly thank him in front of Steves mum, as she will tell Steves brother who is a greedy good for nothing for who expect the same amount off his dad.

So thanking, bestman, page boy(son), brides best man (son), groomsman and guests. xx

I was wondering this, as my mum isn't contributing to our wedding. My dad is, and h2b's parents are, and obviously I want to thank them, but tillyturtle has a point about thanking for everything, not just cash. Although, she still doesn't deserve as much praise and thanks as the others, but what can you do hey! Lol. Thanks hon!

Although, if you're not just referring to financial help kisywisy, that doesn't really help you does it. Just thank who you want hon! xxx

yeah it's not really about the financial help as we don't expect anyone to help us. it was great that my aunt helped, but we would never have expected that

it's more to do with her general attitude towards the wedding and...just her general selfishness

    i'm struggling with this too!
There's a few people I have to thank:
Mum - for contributing a bit of money and buying my dress
my grandma - for making all my favours
my friend - for making our invitations
adam's aunt - for organising the younger bridesmaids and sorting them all out

but then I have the awkward situation of what to do about adams mum and grandma? Adam's mum and dad have given us nothing, helped with nothing and she's done nothing but question our decisions. Adam's grandma has given us money every now and again, but its money she gives to all the grandchildren and none of it was specifically for the wedding - so do I thank them too? Adam's mum is big on keeping people equal (she still buys adam and his bro the same gifts at christmas - they're 27 and 29!) so I know she'll throw a wobbly if she's not thanked and granny isn't thanked. What do I do?!?!

We haven't had any help but if you put in "thank you for giving life to us so we could meet" that would cover both Mum's and then thank Aunt for her unexpected financial help etc and people will know that MIL2B didn't give any help!

Just thank who you want to ... why thank someone who has not done anything? My hubby said thank you to his parents in his speech even though they did sweet FA! I wouldn't have if I'd had my way though, but i didn't read his speech before the day, so I didn't know he was going to say it! :/
If she is there and you don't thank her she might realise how horrible she's been? an if she asks why she wasn't thanked your answer should be "for what exactly?"

it's not about the money though. she's had nothing to do with the wedding at all. she never wants to talk about it. she changes the subject when i'm MID-SENTENCE!! how bloody RUDE of her!!!

our youngest is now 9 months old and i can count with both hands how many times she has seen her and all but one of those times was when we went to see her. we stayed down the road from her until august!!!!! i made a point of waiting for her to make the effort as it was totally one sided. when lottie was born she saw her on the day she was born and then nothing for 3 weeks!! not even a text!!!!!!! from then i decided i was done with her/ she's a selfish, selfish woman and h2b is where he is today because he was determined to not be like her. i won't be thanking her for how he's turned out. he can thank himself for that. she shows no interest in him and from what his sister has told me, she was a shocking mother anyway. always putting drink and her drunk boyfriend before her kids. h2b has serious problems with showing emotion and it was because he wasn't shown any growing up. i've noticed such a difference in him since he's become a dad and is so affectionate to them.

sorry, this has turned into another rant, but i just can't thank her for anything. opening her legs and producing h2b, but nothing else

Unless you say "Thank you to everyone who has helped us with our wedding plans, particularly...." and then mention your aunt and great aunt and other important people?
