We are buying a plain guest book then personalising it ourselves. I need to try and create a label sort of thing to attach to the front of the book so people know what it is. We have found a nice verse we want to put on it but can't think 1, how to design it or 2, how to even make it. Any ideas?

You could cover the book in a fabric you like and leave out a window where you place your label under.
Have a look on etsy - type in wedding guest book and a zillion handmade items will come up . Maybe one takes your fancy and then you could brainstorm on how to recreate :-)

Find a font you like on your computer, print it out in the correct size etc. and cut out with a scalpel to make a stencil?

Thanks ladies. LMB- it is basically a plain bog standard guestbook. so need something on the front cover else some people might think its just a doodle pad. (Bestman would for sure) lol

If you want something fairly simple that you can print out onto nice card then I can have a play in my design package. I'm not a trained professional, I use it to produce fliers and magazine adverts for the company I work with.
I've done invites for friends etc, and it's easy to change things if you don't like an aspect of it.
I'd need the size, the wording and a general style idea.

How much would you charge hun.. We have brought a A5 guestbook so needs to be smaller than that. We are adding a rainbow ribbon to it purely because there isnt much gay in our day. So maybe Incorporated that with stars? My w2b is crazy on stars lol

I prob do mean Ancedote LMB i just know the word goes with joke lol :) But the it oculd be a antidote to the perfect marriage i havent got a clue. I am a wee bit thick :)

Okay, I've changed a bit of the wording "Antidote to anecdote" and "encourage to encouragement". I'll do it 80% of A5, which is 118mm x 168mm. Is it landscape, or portrait?

I would have suggested simply printing off your verse, tall and thin maybe, and putting in a decorated frame to stand next to the book

I went to a friends wedding last month and saw what was described as a video guest book. Everyone left messages and it went down a storm. Not seen anything like this before, but definitely recommend it, everyone used it.

High-jacking a little here, but for ours we're having a chalk board and a polaroid. You write your message on the board and hold it up whilst somebody takes your photo - then you hang the photo on our message tree.

Hi girls, I'm hijacking this thread now lol. I wasn't going to have a guest book but my friend has bought me one along with a matching wedding photo album for our wedding present. The outside of it is covered in material and ribbon etc, it's very nice. Inside though it's like a hotel guest book, it says 'name' and then opposite where you put your name it says 'address' and has lines for where you are supposed to write. I thought wedding guest books were plain inside like autograph books? I don't know whether to cover the words up with stickers from a craft shop or something? :/

janie, the guests i saw did some great video messages, I saw some of the DVD afterwards, and a lot were from people lets just say a little worse for wear, but all good natured. If you like I can find out where they got it from as I am thinking of having one for mine.

LMB, do you mean that it won't last beyond the night, or that by the end of the night the chalk won't write/it will fall apart - blonde moment from me!!!
I only want each guest to write on it once, take a picture and them pass it on the next guest who will rub off the orevious message and write their own.
