Hi all, getting married the second time round there seems to be a lot more stuff that people buy for their weddings these days

I wasn't having a guest book but seems like it's the done thing!

    What do you think? x

PS What's a signing frame?! Lol

Yeah we're not sure on this either, I'm not sure how often we'll look at it post wedding so not sure if it needs to be done! signing frame is similar where you have a photo of the two of you in a nice frame, and people sign on the mount all around it so you can take it home and hang up!

We bought one to originally use at the evening reception - because we had a small wedding in Gretna and the evening do a few weeks later, once we were back home.

In the end though, we forgot to take it with us so it never got used. I was a bit upset at first - but to be honest we have the cards and pics so I don't think we've missed out not having one.

Thanks, I think cards and pics are plenty, h2b will never look at a guest book!

The frame thing is quite cool though hmmm....

We have an old pic of us taken by my DS1 not long after we met, it's sort of a classic one for us. Would be amusing using that one :-)

I was at a wedding last month where the couple just asked everyone to write inside their place names cards. I thought that was a good idea as the best man read some out during the speeches but they can also keep them if they want.
Personally I am undecided, I don't think I'm that bothered tbh. A frame would be nice as its on display but where in the house would I put it if i'm honest?

Im thinking of having a fingerprint tree - its a bit different and then you can put it on your wall
I always struggle to think of something to write in a guestbook, so im sure others feel the same
Plus people can write nice things in cards

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I like the idea of a guest book, i can just picture me and my new husband lying in honeymoon suite of our venue with a glass of champers ready all the nice comments from our friends and family and prob sarcy ones from some friends lol, our videographer said he could set up camera so friends and family could leave a recorded message think that will be fun to watch as well.xxx

We are not having a guest book, instead we are having a sort of signing board. Our photograper takes a photo from our pre wedding shoot, mounts it on a big board for people to sign. It will be plaved on an esil for everyone to sign

We had a wishing tree instead of a guest book. We bought a metal tree that can be wall-mounted and used as a permanant feature in our home and I made post card sized cards for guests to leave their messages on. It worked really well and everyone said how unusual it was!

At the moment I am thinking of having cards scattered around - they will be printed on one side with different love-related sayings we like in great different fonts and on the back people can leave a message. That way it also serves as decoration.
I'll make a post box kind of thing out of a suitcase and they'll go in there with the regular cards people bring.

I'm not having anything like a guest book, a signing tree, or anything.

I don't feel the need, don't think I'd really look at it much and I'm a terrible hoarder!

So if it's not gonna be used or useful or looked at, then I shouldn't have it! :-)

    Each to their own though.

i went to a wedding last week in chester zoo and we all wrote something on the menus, i thought this was a good idea because there was no extra expenses and the menus would have probably gone in the bin:-)

Yes DIY photoboth is a sure thing. I am making a red/white polka dotted background and signs with a circus font. Props I'll make most of them - like 50s and nerd glasses on sticks. Moustaches and lips on sticks are our name card holders and they also double up as favours.
