Our venue only allows dried rose petals as confetti and with 32 days to go, we need to get some. My mum says she's only been able to find American sellers online but I intend to search as well. Buuut we're also thinking it might be more cost effective if we do the petals ourselves.
So my question is- does anyone know how to dehydrate rose petals and how soon before the wedding we need to get started?

Found it! Posted the link on your wall. They were really good quality and reasonably priced. Delivery was good too, I ordered them on 28 March and they arrived on 01 April.

i have been making my own ....really easy ,
remove petals and place on greseproof paper
put onto a large baking sheet
put into oven on low and leave , moving petals from time to time
You can get some nice delphinium petals onlne, or make your own by drying roses and other flowers. Not sure how long it takes though, the oven idea sounds good and speedy.

its really quick to be honest ........ i have put them in there when i have done dinner and the oven is cooling down , just leave the door open
Thanks everyone! How long before the wedding day can we dry the rose petals? How long will they keep?

if they only accept dry rose petals they might even except fresh ones :) just find out :) i'm drying my own from each bunch of flowers i buy or get with roses i try them myself and keep them stored nicely away :)

You can also freeze dry rose petals to keep them stored until the day before and then defrost them. xx

Ooh, that's brilliant! My mum can start taking advantage of the cheap roses in the supermarkets now.
And it gives us time to give it some trial and error... I see a lot of burnt flowers in my future...

Nisha, had a look for some and put a link on your wall, hope it helps xx

Thanks! Definitely a good idea to have a back-up in case mum and I learn that we can't dehydrate rose petals without making them go black first. lol.

Supposedly you can also do them in the microwave for 4-5min on defrost to dehydrate them but I havent tried this way so dont know if it truly works. xx

might be trying that one spooney :) but firstly i will have my bunch of roses in a vase and enjoy them as i have so much time :) but yeah nisha u should try different things (btw asda does cheap rose bunches like 10 mini roses for £2) sometimes they are even a bit cheaper coz they are sort of out of date for display :D so might be worth it looking in to that one xx

You can dry them in the air too, they need some circulation around them, I put them on a radiator (thats off) takes a couple of days They smell nice too :)
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

i do mine air dried at the moment :) as i got time i dont worry :)

That's a good idea- I work in a clothes shop so I can swipe a few of those if I need to unpack the accessories delivery again. Or ask the footwear girls nicely.

We've bought artificial rose petals to put on the centrepiece mirrors (never thought of them as confetti, might check with our venue). We got ours from hobbicraft in small pots. They weren't that expensive either (£4.29 for 164 petals).
Even though they're artificial, they're very good and you'd think they were the real thing lol. Hope that helps x

our venue has told us confetti is fine but we are not allowed to have artificial as the ducks would eat them :D so they must be real for us but dried is fine :) hehe
