Just a quick thought.... we are having two photographers on the day from arrival of groom through to first dance. Should I be feeding them? I said to them that it is a sit down buffet and they would be welcome to grab a sandwich and bits and bobs, however not sure what the venue will say about this as they are not included in the food numbers! Dont really want to be paying £40 for the two photographers to eat! What is everyone else doing about feeding their photographers/videographers/bands/entertainment?

Ours says in our contract we have to provide them with dinner but it doesn't have to be a wedding breakfast dinner you can serve them a meal from the bar etc.

I hadn't thought about this tbh. We're having one photographer from bridal prep right through to the end. It'll be easy for her to grab a bacon roll in the evening but I don't know what do to about the main wedding breakfast. We're having a hog roast so she could easily get something but do you think I'll have to pay full price for her as I would for an extra guest?

Other suppliers like the entertainment are more than welcome to help themselves to the buffet

You need to count them in for fire regs etc but let the venue know that they are photographers not the wedding party.

A well-fed photographer is a happy photographer! Worth a little extra me thinks.

True, but with only a maximum of 40 at the wedding meal I dont really want two virtual strangers sat with us! The tables are going to be arranged in a small horseshoe shape so it will be nice and cosy. I suppose they could eat theirs away from the main group. Still begrudge paying £40 to feed them though....... will try and negotiate with the venue.

They can't expect a place at a table can they? I don't mind feeding them of course. It's a long day and a hard job but surely they don't expect to sit with the guests! We have no spare room anyway!

You don't have to have them sit with you. Many like to have a break away from it all and after all you don't want them snapping you with a mouth full of food. Ours are eating with us but that is only because there is spare space and we like them.

After a thread about this the other day i contacted my photographer and he said he always takes his own pack up to weddings so i dont need to buy him anything. (matt was right tut)
But he said most photographers usually have a bar snack in another room to the wedding party so they can go through the photos so far. Then comes back for things like first dance, speech's, cutting the cake etc.

Yeah, I don't think they'd expect to sit with you. Your venue may well do something cheaper for them, worth asking.

It normally says in the contract but most are happy for you just to tell the venue to make them some decent sandwiches and tell them you will provide unlimited soft drinks for the day and put it on the tab. Most of the entertainment work in a similar way. If they start demanding hot food then that's not right and they are pushing their luck. Have a chat with the photographers beforehand and ask them what they normally do about food and breaks etc.

ohhh this is well worth thinking about.... i dont have the space ofr an extra at the table, but i would like to offer them food we have 2 photographers and at £77 per head! thats quite a lot of extra money for 2 meals!
I will speak to our wedding co-ordinator and ask about bar meal for them. We will offer soft drinks free and put that on our tab throughout the day.

As a wedding photographer I do not expect to be fed during the day, I always bring a packed lunch and go to the car to eat and drink.
