I dont live near you but you can get packages for under £1000. Originally our package was costing £495 but we are now only paying half of that as our photographer asked if we minded having his newly qualified photographer to help build up his portfolio. This price includes all the photos taken on the day from me getting ready to the start of the meal but the photos come on a disc so we will do our own album.

You get what you pay for hun. But ways to keep costs down
    -opt for images on CD
    -cut out bridal preps
-only have photographer there from arrival to ceremony to mock cake cutting/speeches xx

i am spending £900 but that is for a pre shoot as well because my tog is coming to the venue to get to know us and see what shots he can get beforehand.

You can get cheaper photographers that are just as good but we went for who we did based on reputation and the way he goes all out to ensure the bride and groom get exactly what they want on their special day - nothing is too much trouble

My photographer is costing £495, that includes: 2 photographers (1 male & 1 female), whatever start and end time we decide and all pics, copyright free on a disc. We are gonna get some prints via the photographer for another £150-£200 on top of price.
It is possible to get a good one, without paying the odds. Just means u have to do alot of research. I did and it has really paid off x

We looked at some great ones that were 550 and 700 but decided to go with a photographer whose work is amazing. Shes a little bit more at 1250 but shes worth it and youll have the photos for a life time so def worth spending that lil bit more on

OUr photographer's from Newcastle and she is amazing. We were looking for something different and she does these amazing stylised shots, really amazing. She also takes the 'normal' pics of the day too but her signature shots are worth the money alone. The package we went for is £1250 and includes a pre-wedding shoot and the album and she stays all day and as long as necessary on the night to get all the shots she needs for the 'story' of the day. Can't recommend her enough. If you want details LMK.

We are getting ours for free. Because we are on a very tight budget we put an ad on our local gumtree website for a photographer that won charge the earth. We received an email from a very nice photography student who is willing to do our wedding for free in return for using some of our pictures in her portfolio. Her and her friend will be doing it for us. She has shown us some of her work and we are going to meet up in person with her. As most of our guests will have cameras with them we feel that if things dont turn out well we will still have pictures of our pig day but judging by what we have seen we will have nice pictures of our big day. Why not look into a student who may be able to help you. xx

My guy had packages from £450, but we chose to spend £900 - we've got an album, CD, around 1500 photos, a canvas and a full day's coverage. We're really delighted and he's so lovely. We met at his house so we could meet his wife and kiddies - just a super, genuine guy. To top it all, he's thrown in a boudoir shoot as a pressie for my h2b which his wife is a part of.

Remember, it's not just the price you need to worry about - you need to get on with the photograher as well...otherwise it'll show in the pics.

I'm not allowed to give his name on here or am I? Newbies....

We are paying £500, thats for the photographer from 9am till after last dance, he'll also be touching up the church photos to show on a projection screen during the buffet in the evening, so the evening only guests can see them.

Afterwards we can decide what to buy which I thought was an easy way to spread the cost......

we are paying £700 for two photographers for the whole day. (the 2nd is a professional but only just starting to do weddings) We are getting a disc with all the images on it for us to make an album.
I wracked my brain to try and find a company that was cheap and did the disc. We met with him and got him down to £700 from £1000 for 2 photographers and he chucked in loads of extras. I recommend meeting with them and haggling! xxxx

i know 2 people who used them which is how i got to know them and their pictures were amazing and the most imnportant thing for them and for me is that we can arrange the albums afterwards how we want them exactly including any good pics which friends or family may take on the day or in the evening.it really does depend on what you want but from what ive seen there service is good but it is like you say a day you never get back so maybe a little more spent on photos and trim the budget elsewhere!! xx

I'm an aspiring photographer and the photographer is one of the most important parts of my day, but i'm also on a budget so the people i've been looking at seem to be around the £800-£1000 mark. Some times more for an album but i want to put together my own album cause i've worked in a studio before so i know how they do it all anyway :). So there is ways of making things cheaper..

I'm paying £295 for a guy I found on the internet. Probably a bit risky, but all I wanted was someone who wasn't a wedding guest who could take photos. My old boss and her hubby took up wedding photography when they retired and I could have asked them, but they will be guests and I didn't think that was fair. Although they will probably bring their cameras n stuff with them, so hopefully there is a backup plan. That and I will setup somewhere on the internet for people to upload their photos to.
