A bride has sparked outrage after strapping her newborn daughter onto the train of her wedding dress as she walked down the aisle.
Shona Carter-Brooks has defended the move saying the baby was 'awake and well-secured' and that she was 'covered by Christ'.
She has since been attacked online for the bizarre wedding gimmick by hundreds of people, who were outraged when they saw the pictures she uploaded to Facebook.
Some are even calling for her to be reported to child protection services.
Mrs Carter-Brooks enlisted the help of her tiny baby at her wedding to Johnathan Brooks at the Elam Baptist Church in Ripley last month, who she somehow managed to fix into the back of her train
The couple, who live in Jackson, just outside of Nashville, are reported to have only welcomed their little girl, Aubrey, just a month before the ceremony.
Her dress - which is believed to be part of Vera Wang's diffusion line, White by Vera Wang, costing anywhere from around $400 to $1400 - appears to have been altered to allow for the child.
One person, who hit out on website Clutch, said: "I am sorry but if I would have saw that I would have gotten out of my seat and taken that baby.
"That is truly dumb."
Mrs Carter-Brooks has struck back at her haters, saying her child was fine, and that they had Jesus on their side at the lavish wedding. She posted on Facebook: "People questioning what we do, commenting all negative, and just doing the most.
"We good though we covered by the Blood which will never loose (sic) its power.
"So the media, radio, news and whomever else wanting to talk about what WE do here you go:
"Media Media I see how it works regardless the situation or purpose people gone (sic) have something negative to say!
"The answer is we do what we want, when we want, as long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gona (sic) continue to be fine."
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Is the woman completely mad?!

I saw the photos on a daily newspaper website and couldn't believe. Looked really silly, added nothing to the dress at all- looked like someone had put the baby down and forgot it was there!

Well thats pretty stupid. I doubt her baby was in danger or someone would have stepped in (surely). But why on Earth didnt she just carry her daughter if she wanted her involved! xxx

I have to say I was completely shocked when I saw the pics. I cannot believe she is practically dragging a new born along the floor! What's wrong with having a member of the he bridal party hold her?

Marrying my best friend
Not long now :D
I was also shocked to see this earlier - it looked stupid and I think completely unnecessary. Although the baby is "secure" something could happen to it since it is basically at floor level. I wonder what she did with it after walking down the aisle and saying her vows :S

Okay, i just looked at the pictures - what possessed her to think that was a good idea?!

Yeah saw this on an online news site this morning... If she wanted her baby involved why didn't she just carry her? and she says "Covered by Jesus"? I'm sorry but last time I checked you can't get Jesus cover on a comparison websites for your baby. What if a fire alarm went off! The baby would have been trampled in the panic! and (the least worrisome) last time I checked a Vera Wang dress isn't ruddy cheap so to go an alter it like this? There are better ways of getting your newborn involved than this.

There are too many stories of people being hurt or dying of a treatable illness because they say Jesus will protect them. I'm a Christian but I would say that God protects us by equipping us with wisdom and common sense, and by giving people the skills to save us. Attaching a baby to the back of a dress, however secure, is not common sense. Would Jesus have done it? Surely the baby could have been carried in as a tiny flower girl. I'm actually surprised that a couple with that evangelical a belief had a child prior to marriage.

I've seen the photo now and it really doesn't look secure, or comfortable. The train can't have been that thick, it must have been like the baby was being dragged along the floor.

I agree with Lana. She doesn't deserve a child. If she wanted the baby to go down the aisle with her why didn't she just carry the poor thing instead of strapping it to her dress

I couldn't believe it when I saw the photo's, it looks awful and I have to agree with everyone else as well you worry about the baby, it can't have been comfortable... what did they do when they got to the end of the aisle as well?
