Does it really matter! If guests are going to be sitting down on arrival, is it just a waste of money which can go to something else. Any ideas?
CommentAuthorGlitterfairy
If you'd rather save your money then do so, or put it towards something else. People should not expect favours.
Our wedding day - 6 October 2012
CommentAuthorFutureMrsW
There's no need to provide favours if you don't wish to. Personally I enjoy looking on P1nt3r3st and such places to find good ideas for fun gifts which are also very reasonable. One friend had paper airplanes as their favours, which must have cost next to nothing :) x
CommentAuthorStephH96
I like the idea of favours. Gives people something to talk about if they are sat with people that they don't know. They can be done pretty cheap so shouldn't really take a large amount of the budget.
CommentAuthorInDreamland
I don't think they're necessary. If you don't want them then save the cash. Whenever I go to a wedding I don't expect them and tbh most of the time they're left on the tables at the end of the night.
Married the love of my life on Saturday 11th May 2013 xxx
Had our dream perfect honeymoon in Hawaii!
We're having wedding favours but only for the day time guests if we brought for everyone would cost a fortune!! If you don't feel the need for them, like ladies have said before me there are a lot of ideas out there and not too expensive :) xx
finally became Mrs B 22nd June 2017!!
CommentAuthorFlossie
I don't think it's absolutely necessary however I do think it's a nice touch. They don't need to be expensive, ours are working out really cheap. Probably around £1 per person x

I agree with Flossie. Not necessary but I do like the idea of them. You can just do something simple and cheap. We are looking around £50 for 70 people

It is definitely an area you can cut back on if money needs spending elsewhere - I am currently trying to figure out if to have favours or not too - but mainly because finding something suitable for everyone on our guest list is proving difficult.

I'll be having them at mine, they don't need to be expensive it's the thought that counts, sugared almonds are the tradition but H0&&y(r#ft have big boxes of chocolates that look like sugared almonds and they're only like £12, then have some cute drawstring bags which you can get in multipacks, you'll do like 40 people for lets say £20ish?

You don't have to have them but I like the idea of them and I'm quite traditional. They don't have to be expensive, just a little token of thanks.

I wasn't going to, but then I saw a recipe for wedding cookies. I've had a trial run and they are so yummy! Really cheap to make too. So I'm doing a few in each bag for the day guests.

We weren't going to bother but we ended up finding a really cheap idea we quite liked (P3ngu1n Little Black Classics - they're excerpts of classic books or collections of poems that are quite short and generally cost 80p each but you can get a set of 80 for £50, we're going to back them in paper in our wedding colours)
If there's nothing you really like and you don't want to spend the extra cash i wouldn't bother. Most guests appreciate that you've bought them food, wine, reception drinks and a glass of something to toast with and paid for chair covers and entertainment etc - it's a lot of money per person without favours on top

I wasn't going to bother with favours (we're providing sparklers for midnight and there will be a sweetie Ferris wheel anyway so figured that would do) but as part of the deal on the decorations package I'm getting personalised love hearts for free, so figured I would have my aunt bring over a big bag of h3rsh3y's k1ss3s (she'll be coming over from North Carolina for the wedding) and I'll put them together in an organza bag with a tag saying "Love and Kisses from the Mr and Mrs"

I'm doing homemade Jam for everyone, 3 single serving pots in a little drawstring bag per person. Going to have Damson, Greengage and Sloe jams. I love making jam.
CommentAuthorNicolaB7220
We're just doing a little box containing a pack of personalised love hearts, 2 heart shaped Belgian chocolates (wrapped in our wedding colours) and a small wrapped piece of rock which says 'happy ever after' inside.
CommentAuthorEmily17
We have little boxes that we are adding little charms to with ribbon. Will just add a few chocs to it I think.

We'll be giving sixpences to the gentlemen and fans to the ladies :)
Edit: Ooh I have just thought we could give Victorian pennies to match our theme eeeee

Greengage is a rare type of green/yellow plum. We have a wild tree round here on a footpath so last year I made jam with the fruit and it is amazing, like a plum but not as sweet and with a lovely tart aftertaste

Sounds nice Faye :)

Ahh Stephanie I tried to persuade my OH to have a caricaturist! I think they're really fun!! OH was worried some people in his family would see it as making fun (they're a bit more formal than my family) so we haven't in the end, but I think it'll be great - will get everyone talking!
That sounds lovely Faye!!

It seems no one has the traditional bonbonyeira anymore (sugared almonds) and go for something else. We considered druges (the chocolate ones) but finally decided to stay with tradition as the last 5 weddings I've been to did something different.
They don't have to be expensive, but can be made to look very pretty.
Here's ours

We are having sugared almonds but in a silver coating to go with the lilac and silver theme....
I bought the boxes on offer, 110 for £30 and our stationer is jazzing them up and filling them for an extra £21

We are providing them but I don't think they are expected xx

We've made our own strawberry wine and we had personalised labels made. We're doing one bottle per couple. x
We are having personalised packets of forget me not seeds. They symbolise faithfulness and enduring love, but also have meaning for me in that my mum has Altzheimers and won't be able to come to the wedding.
