when are you making your cupcakes? I want a tiered sponge cake(s) but I am worried that it is actually the decorating that will take the time not the cake (don't want to be up to my elbows in cream or butttercream the day before (or morning of for that matter!) :)
I must say you are a very crafty lady! I can't wait to see pix of your big day - I keep seeing all of the bits you are doing and it is very inspiring! Well done you! :)

I am not making cupcakes I dont think.... I was only making cupcakes when I was having a fruit wedding cake, just to give themto people that dont like fruit cake....but now I am making sponge cake, there is no need to do the cupcakes....even though they are really pretty/......dunno.....thinking about that one...
Thanks for the comments, but Dont forget.......I am able to be crafty.......but only because my wedding is very small (19 people) so Its not a lot .....if it was 100+ people, you better believe that I wouldnt be doing as much as I have been doing. LOL
I love the DIY stuff, and I am pleased I am able to do it, Like I say, if it was a bigger wedding it might have been too much for me, so I am happy its small for that reason.
I can resist anything but temptation

why not go the opposite of your original idea and have tiered sponge and mini iced fruit loaf cupcakes? then those who like fruit based cake still get something they like too

good idea panther! you really have something there......I could cut up the one I have made.....(I only need 18 so should get 18 out of that one I did.
Me and H2B love fruit cake and my Mum is making her fabulous fruit cake for us and my cousin is icing them - I'm not worried Mum makes the cake every year for xmas and lots of them as gifts so it's not like she isn't procaticed in it.
I wouldn't risk doing it myself tho, all I can think of is that episode of Don't Tell The Bride when the groom and best man tried to make the cake the night before and it was a disaster!
Luckily my cousin has trained in sugarcraft and is doing it as our wedding present :)
It does save loads tho, £250 at least for a basic cake and it's costing less than £20 for all our ingredients + £25 to hire an S shaped cake stand :)
