Hi all. After some advice regarding wine. OH going to get the wine for the toast today. They come in cases of 6 bottles and we are planning on getting 8. We aren't sure how much red/white. We were thinking maybe 2 cases of red and 6 white but not sure if that will be enough red?? I think most people prefer white??

We're putting 1 bottle of red and 1 bottle of white on each table - per table of 8.

Depends on your family and friends, we had 8 cases of red, 4 cases of white and 3 cases of rose. But we served lamb and most of our family are red drinkers, my friends drank the rose and we had loads of white left over!

I put a bottle of red and a bottle of white on each table, if people did not like it hard tough
we are having 4 bottles of wine per table of 10, plus champagne to toast.
In my circle of friends very few people like white, most drink mainly Red but it does depend what you are serving for the meal.

Thanks everyone. We decided to go for 5 cases of white and 3 of red! Hopefully it will be ok. Didn't bother with rose

Yeah it's hard to know- most of my friends prefer red! We've been told that 1 glass and a top us equates to half a bottle each so for a tan.e of 8 we are having 2 red and 2 white

We get 14 bottles of wine as part of our package and I was going to have them all white then add 7 bottles of red. However we were talked into having a few extra bottles of bubbly for the drinks reception as top ups for the 1 free glass instead. I'm not sure about this now as inclined to think people will drink less before the meal and that 14 bottles won't be enough for everyone at dinner. Plus if I start diluting that 14 with red there'll be even less white to go round. My thinking is that some guests will arrive hoping for as much free booze as poss and if there is wine left over from dinner that they can drink through the evening they will be happier. Not sure what to do for best really.

We had wine included in our package but removed it, and supplied our own. We also had a bar tab for those who didn't want wine but excluded spirits. As long as there's an option for people to buy more on the night it'll be fine.

I got one of those v1rg1n w1n35 vouchers £50 off. I need 18bottles of fizz (one glass per person for the toast) Can people tell the difference between champagne and fizzy wine? Im not much of a drinker so I dont know.

Stephanie, yes people can tell the difference but that isnt a problem. People do expect fizzy wine at weddings now rather than champagne unless its a super super posh do!

That rules champagne out of my day then. hehehe Thanks Faye xx

we are having champagne for our toasts and for the reception but only because the venue do a fab deal on it and not such a fab one on the fizzy wine. My dad is a champagne snob though and we have had to ask for a different champagne for the top table as he doesnt like the champagne the venue are providing!

Blinking frustrating! Mainly because I don't actually like the same champagne as he does! But he is paying for it so I'm going to go along with it

I have to admit that quite often champagne is too dry so I prefer prosecco
