I've only ever been to the evening receptions of weddings and I've never seen a cake cut. How much effort goes into this part of the wedding? Is the music played? Or a speech of some sort? Or is it simply the bride and groom cutting the cake while everyone takes pictures?

Hadn't even thought about this one! Will be interesting to hear the replies. We might be having an oraganist/pianist so maybe he/she could play?

it is 'traditionally' after the speeches when the Toast master would announce that the Bride and groom are now about to cut the cake and then lots of people take photos while they stand there holding the knife together and then they cut it. The professional photographer may take a little time over this to get the right shots but thats is about it. I think you could do anything you like...such as announcing the cake is going to be cut and having a favourite song/piece of music played while you are doing it sounds lovely...
yes i been to a few weddings and no music hun! but its up 2 u x

can you cut it twice lol - we dont want to eat it after the wedding breakfast as we are having pudding, but then the photographer may not be there to cut it during the evening reception - maybe we can pretend to cut it during the wedding breakfast lol

we are cutting our cake in the evening as severing it with the evening buffet and the dj has asked us what music we want playing while we cut the cake but am having such trouble thinking of something.

Hadnt really thought about music while cutting the cake :/ Ummm...we are cutting our cake during the wedding breakfast, but it will probably be served during the evening.
We went to see the cake lady the other day and we had only thought about having one flavour...but she said maybe to have 2 or 3 and it will look pretty when it served. We were going to have lemon, but am tempted by a layer of Baileys, Caramel and Chocolate....ummm. What flavour is everyone else having????? x x

As we are not having speeches but would like a toast, we are being introduced into the room and will cut the cake straight away, and thats when we will have the toast.....I dont think we will have music though.
