Hi all after confirming our date on Friday I'm planning on getting the save the dates out to our day guests but was wondering if there is any point sending to those we're planning on inviting to the evening?
My thinking was I am planning on getting invites out as soon as reception is finalised (in next month or 2) so evening guests will have plenty of time to make arrangements for evening if they wish to come, and I don't want them receiving a STD excepting invite to the whole day and then get disappointed to only get an evening invite, so am thinking of only sending STD to day guests what is everyone else doing?

I would only send them to the day guests, then send the evening invites out when they are ready to.

We only sent to day guests because as you say evening people may get confused and think they're invited to the whole day. We will also be sending day invites out before evening ones so we can bump people to the day if others are unable to come.
I have heard of people sending Save The Evening cards out if you did want to make sure people could come. X

Thank you feel better about it lol, I'm justing to send out invites in a few months as tbh if the evening guests can come then great but if they can't it won't be end of the world x

Exactly, plus it is easier for most to find an evening free than the whole day.
Id just send to the day guests, its easier to get a free evening off than a full day.
