I am trying to work out a good quality and thickness of card to buy to make my invites with.
I have (i think) 160 gsm card at home which is quite thin for my liking but my friend used that sort of thickness on her invites and they weren't too bad. Anyone have any advice on this as wanna know if i need to buy card or not to make decent invites with
Thanks all :) xxx

It all depends, if your using your pc to print onto them it'll depend on how thick the card the printer will print x Not much help but a very valid point x(I know I tried and my printer wouldn't print on the thickness I had and therefore I had to get a printers to do them for me)

I was planning on printing them off at work when everyone goes home so I don't prevent people from using them. I know the card I have will go through the printers just wondered if a slightly thicker card would also do it. Saw somewhere that you can get 200 gsm card so might try that xxx

My card is 270gsm but then we have a pretty good printer that takes up 320gsm I went for 270 as its feel a good quality thinckness but not too thick that you have to double score just to fold it over. xx

I'll have to have a look and see what card will go through the machines we have as don't want to be responsible for breaking them lol! x

I got 250 gram and although I'm using them and they are OK I would say they are still a little too thin. If you stand them up portrait they are OK but a little flimsy if you try and stand them landscape. I'm just not going to shell out for more when these will do the job. (not that I paid much for them on ebay anyway) I've got inserts to go with mine too so if you get inserts with yours then it doesn't matter how thick the card is as you will be printing on the insert rather than the card. You can get the peel off stickers or use personalised ribbon to state wedding invite etc.

I had this problem with my save the dates. We bought beautiful postcards of Scotland (where we live!) to use but they were too think for my home printer so I ended up doing it at work. Will definately check before I buy for my invites!
