Wedding Forum - Where is everyone going on their honeymoon?...

We are having 7 nights in Barbados followed by 7 nights in Saint Lucia. VERY excited :)

next door neighbour has given us 2 weeks free in their villa with pool in spain. i think we will only be taking a week though because of our dog and that we are moving into married quarters so will be excited about setting our house up so might cut the holiday short. then for our proper honeymoon we are thinking either maldives, mauritus or seychelles about 9-12 months after wedding or maybe for our first anniversary once we have saved up again xx

I know :-) She's the best ever.. (Just in general, not just cause of the honeymoon :-D)

We'll probably end up going to Spain somewhere... Though H2B want Maldives lol, I've told him its far too much for 2 weeks.. Xxx

Me and my OH are having our dream holiday this year (Vegas (+Grand Canyon), San Fran (+Yosemite NP) and New York, 3 weeks in total)) so I have no idea what we will do for honey moon. We booked this holiday before we were engaged (i had no idea he was planning to propose) and I joked with him saying 'how will our honeymoon ever top this holiday?' and his reply 'we'll just call this the honeymoon'... haha think again honey. I'm sure we will chose somewhere lovely though.

we fancy Mexico but there's no way we can afford it straight after the wedding. So we're doing the controversial thing of asking for holiday vouchers instead of a gift registry to top up what we can save and hopefully have a lovely honeymoon

We are hoping to go to Caracao or New Caledonia - Been looking at pics and it looks truly stunning!! Fallen in love with them both!! Any ideas on where or what to look for specifically when it comes to honeymoons?? xx

e haven't discussed the honeymoon yet, but it will probably be in Gran Canaria where he proposed to me or Tenerife where our eldest son was conceived lol. Both places have meaning to us. Our whole wedding is based around what has meaning to us and the honeymoon will follow suit :)

We get married on Saturday and don't go until Feb - but we are off to Mauritius! So excited! :) xx

I've not a clue where we're going but it's something we're going to discuss fairly soon I would think.

We don't normally do holidays together as we both want different things, hubby likes to hire a moped and explore where I just like to relax and lie by the pool so we are having to find something that suits us both or we would end up spending our honeymoon apart!

So we have decided upon a log cabin in the woods somewhere, kind of like c3ntre p4rcs. We have seen some gorgeous ones that are just little hide outs for us to go and spend some time together and they also have hot tubs. There are activities if we want them and spa days too so hopefully we can both get something out of it

We are going to Cuba in 5 weeks for 2 weeks all inclusive on the beach.... im really glad we waited 6 weeks after the wedding for the honeymoon as gives us something to look forward too xxx

H2B suggested, Disney Cruise Line for 4 nights then to Ireland to see his family, then to Italy to see mine!

We have just returned from our delayed Honeymoon!!!!

We went to watch the Moto GP at Misano!!
Visited Rimini, San Marino(gorgeous), Bologna(the best pasta and Venice(my new favourite City!!!)

We even had a free upgrade in Bologna as hubby e mailed them to say it was our Honeymoon!!!

H2b just booked (as in this morning) a little cottage near Bangor in Wales for 4 days after our wedding in July and then about 9 weeks later we are going to Gran Canaria for a fortnight as my parents have offered us their timeshare, since they want to do a cruise next year!

We have definitely decided on Mexico now...Cancun! The only thing we're not sure about is when to go. We are planning to use money/travel vouchers we get as gifts towards it as its going to cost about £2k. We get married end of march so thinking June time x

We were looking at 1 week in sri lanka followed by a week in the maldives but think we going for 2 weeks in maldives instead. X x

AmyM573 - we didnt specifically ask but the holiday rep added a note to the booking to say it was our honeymoon and she is also emailing the hotel 2 weeks before we go!! You never know we may get lucky and have an upgraded room but the majority of the time they provide champagne and flowers etc on your arrival :)

AmyM: my advice is always to book the room category etc that you want. While it is possible to get upgrades, it can depend on a lot of things inc the destination, time of year, and the hotel. Some hotels are practically full of people on honeymoon/celebrating anniversaries, so the chances of getting a free upgrade are unlikely. However, many offer 'honeymoon packages' (which are free) which typically include things like sparkling wine and fruit in the room on arrival.

We're going to 2 hotels for our honeymoon; the first puts a banner on the door with balloons, decorates the room with flowers, and gives you a bottle of rum and a fruit basket. The second does the banner and flowers, plus you get a bottle of sparkling wine, a special dinner one night (table decorated with flowers and a special dessert), a champagne breakfast in bed, and 20% off all spa treatments. If you check out hotel websites it will tell you if they do this.

Otherwise, email the hotel direct about 2 weeks before your trip to let them know, and see what they do; we recently stayed overnight in London and got a pretty good free upgrade worth about £100 because my OH emailed and said we were celebrating our 'engagement anniversary' and a year until the wedding (latter was true; former wasn't lol), and they happened to have rooms available.

Gosh, all the exotic and/or faraway places!

Well, neither J nor I are big on travelling far, so we're looking at a couple of quiet (ish, lol!) weeks in some resort/retreat or something, then a few days looking at some really old castles (since we're both rather nuts for medieval..., okay, me a bit more than him!)

we're going to turkey, the boy isnt thrilled, but hes doing as he is told. ive planned most of this weddign on my own, til he finally took an interest, and he had a stag abroad, and as we couldnt agree, it was always gunna be somewhere either he wanted to go, or i wanted to go. so i justified it by my above points

told him all i want to do after the stress of the wedding is just sit on my butt and chill. i dont want the likes of new york where its all rush rush rush. i want to see some turtles and sleep and stuff

We are off to our favourite place..... FRANCE!!!!! Our amazing, wonderful bestman is arranging it as a surprise wedding present and that's all we know ;)
A year or two after that we plan on going to New Zealand and would love to do Hawaii and the Caribbean although the Caribbean takes more planning obviously lol. Hope to take the wife skiing at some point as I love it, haven't gone in ages and she can't ski haha!! x
