Oh my gosh I wasted about 3 hours yesterday scoping out holidays to the Riviera Maya in Mexico <3 I am in love, I am desperate to book right away as summer 2017 holidays are just up & on offer with lots of availability, plus we do have some money in the bank, but I am job seeking currently and OH feels we should wait til I have a secure income, which he's right about really.

How far in advance did you guys book your honeymoons? A year before or nearer? Thanks x

We are planning on having a 'familymoon' (as my daughter calls it!) next year, but me and the OH have just booked a week away on our own a couple of weeks after the wedding. Literally just booked it half an hour ago! a week in Devon. It will be cold (November) but the break will be nice (and only £216 for the week!)

    Hi all!!!
H2b and I have been looking at honeymoons (I swear we're more excited about this than the wedding!) and we have come across the idea of twin/multi centre breaks and we love it. We'd love to do a couple of days safari and then 7 nights luxury (currently looking Sri Lanka and Maldives). The thing is 1. most of these twin break websites don't give prices and I always feel like such a fraud asking for quotes (I have asked for a few tho) because it's bound to be out of price range (we have about £4k total towards our dream honeymoon) and 2. we won't be going on HM until 2018 so many sites aren't able to give exact prices yet therefore they don't give any price at all.
So my question is has anyone done a honeymoon/holiday like this? If so how much did it cost? And was it worth it?
    TIA!!!

We are really stuck on where to go, i have never been abroad before so we definitely want to do that but other than that we have no clue, we would like an all inclusive but also somewhere where they have things to see/do. finding it a nightmare to find anywhere as not really sure best places to look. any ideas would be welcome my profile open. thanks in advance

Mrs D I have never heard of that sort of thing but it sounds fantastic. Means you get a bit of a few different types of holiday.

If it's too expensive it may be worth seeing if you can arrange it all separately yourself. I do that with any holiday I go on, book flights / hotel separately and end up saving a fortune.
Not sure how it would work with that sort of holiday though.

Mrs D2B we looked at doing that for ours, we initially wanted Hawaii and New York but was working out too much hassle. Then we looked at Dubai and maldives but the price was mounting up and we are only going for 8 nights as we aren't taking LO (I'm struggling with leaving him that long lol) so we decided on going the Maldives the whole time. We nearly booked it with Ku0n1 but then found it online for £2000 cheaper. I would def recommend looking online. I can post you the link of the company we went through, they were very helpful. Xx

Mrs D you could do Kenya + Tanzania for safari and beach or maybe a little different and fly into South Africa, go to Kruger and then on to Mauritius.

When I worked at F1r5t Ch01ce ( a while ago now admittedly), the first one was very popular you can buy it as a package and if you went at the right time and chose the right hotel £2k each would work. Maybe check the website and give them a call as they should be able to price it over the phone for you at the very least.

If you do book a package with a Tour operator, the brochures tend to come out at the beginning of the season the year before, ie Summer 2018 (May-October) would go on sale around April 2017. If you'd be looking at a scheduled airline they are on sale 11 months before travel. If it is a popular route then some tour ops do sell packages further out with a very good estimate price and they let you canx free of charge if the price goes up too much after the seats go on sale.

Danielle G do you want to go longhaul or stay with a shorter flight? Also would you be going straight after your wedding or waiting a while? If you wait you would get a better deal on a Caribbean holiday, Cuba would be good or Jamaica.

Alternatively you could try Italy - there is a lovely AI in Sorrento, sold very well in a previous job (see last post) and my manager has just come back and highly recommends it.

I do like Barcelona too, you could stay in Sitges and have easy access to all the sites in the city.

did anyone do a honeymoon fund for the honeymoon? we are doing this for our wedding 4 may 2017 but thinking we will have to book a last minute honeymoon as obviously we wont receive money from guests until the wedding date! But I would love to book something in advance so I know its done.

If you book through an agent they can keep track of payments for you so that when you send out invites, you can put in a message to say you would like honeymoon contributions and the details and your guests can call up to pay off the balance.

If you are able to manage your finances so that you could put it on a credit card and realistically pay off the honeymoon fairly quickly that could be another option for you, and then transfer the cash over to pay it off once you have had the wedding?

We did the honeymoon fund, but our honeymoon was 3 months after the wedding.
Only one person actually used the fund, everyone else put cash/cheques in a card.

Watch out though, you loose a percentage of the money as the funds (although free to set up) take a charge to withdraw the money!!!

My H2B is terrified of flying and doesn't like too much heat. Unfortunately I'm the complete opposite. I love flying and nice hot climates. We're both very agreeable people and don't want to do anything that would make the other uncomfortable. He was willing to TRY and get on a plane and go somewhere hot for me. I suggested hopping on a train and making our way to somewhere cold.

We found a middle ground and we're now going on a cruise to the Nordic coast. My H2B still feels a little guilty because he thinks I'm not getting what I want, but I couldn't be happier. I've always wanted to go on a cruise.

It's a beautiful place for relaxing which is just what we needed, although unfortunately the weather was drizzle and windy with an odd bit of sun thrown in and not the 40 degree temperatures I was promised! I would love to go on a cruise. Unfortunately I have no say in the honeymoon though. OH wants to plan it as a surprise.
He keeps changing his mind as to whether I get to know the climate for packing or if my mom will be packing for me. Really I hope I get told that at least so that I can get a few nice new bits for it.
He doesn't even know when he will tell me... frustrating but I know he will plan something amazing. He has told me that we will need to pay for some of it he thinks. My aunt is paying for most of it as my 21st birthday present was a holiday that she said we could use for the honeymoon a few years late so god knows what he has in his head!

We are looking into travelling to Kos, Greece for our honeymoon. This will be my first time flying and travelling abroad! I was wondering if anyone has been before and what it's like, places to see and places to avoid. Also i heard about a migrant crisis, does that affect anything? i'm not too sure it will but it has been mentioned to us so thought i would ask your opinions.
