I was going through the wedding spread sheet the over night and going over how much we have spent and what we still have to pay and I was gob smacked when we realised our budget has more than doubled.
we can afford what we want but things are so much costly than we 1st imagined. However I have had to say enough is enough now otherwise the cost will be going out of control and I really don't want to spend more than what we have to now.
Has any one else found this?

Oh yes, I had a slight panic attack when I looked at the total cost of our estimates (Confirmed prices updated too) and we are currently sitting at £15.5K which is about £2.5K over what we would like to spend and that's without honeymoon so at the minute honeymoon is out the question and we are trying to cut back where possible.

I had a freak because I thought we couldnt afford it but we can Oh just had to show me what the plan of action was (He has the cash saved in an account I have no access too).

I could quite easily spend double what we have already. We are comfortable in what we are spending but no more than that.

It doesn't matter how much or little the budget is we all have our limits if im being completely honest our wedding is costing about £10K more than I would like, Id quite happily go to registry office get married and have a party OH had other ideas

My sisters friend spent £37k on her wedding and honeymoon to us that is crazy but our budget is crazy to other people xx

I started with my original budget of £10k however currently looking around £15k however I am expecting it to maybe go slightly over and that's not including honeymoon . One main thing that hit us is H2B decided on a proper wedding breakfast instead of meal suggestion I gave so that hit budget hard lol However being a July wedding and on a Saturday (Like you Amanda) we have quite a big wedding so it adds up x

they spent about 10K on their 3.5 week honeymoon. and 3.5K on gifts for each other.

We were at their wedding and it was lovely but I wouldn't have said it cost that much. each to their own though.

I do think it's what you do with the money as I had 2 mates who got married a week apart and apparently one cost £1k more than the other but really if you had to guess who spent more you would say it was the other way around .

We've found it's not what you know, it's who you know. Our original budget was £7k but when we did the maths properly it came out at £14k. We got a discount from the photographer and DJ and our wedding car is free (a friend is doing it for us). I've found it's the little things that add up, spending £20 here and £10 there. For example I've bought a personalised wooden name train that was £19 and a trunk that was £40. Add that to the fire buckets that OH bought that were about £40, and my Niece's flower girl sash that was £10. It all adds up :o/

Yep! Ours doubled! We were planning spending £7000 and are now just below £14000 and the wedding is in just over three weeks! Our honeymoon on top of that takes us to £16400 but we only put £600 towards that as the rest was paid for as a gift to us. I originally only wanted to spend £5000 but soon realised that with 120 guests that was not gonna be possible! And I never expected to be paying £700 for the church or £1000 for a photographer! I thought they would be much less than that! Xxx

We budgeted 15k but its probably 22k now (not including honeymoon as we haven't decided what we want to do yet as we will have been out of the country for 14months by the time we get back home in January!)...but my parents are paying for the venue and catering and OHs Dad is making our invites (as he is a graphic designer) which would have cost a lot if we had gone somewhere else as they are really unique and bespoke! I think he is paying for our band too and I think MIL2b is paying for h2bs suit. So we aren't really paying anymore than we planned. which is good for us! I suppose we could have done it the other way round and used their money and paid less ourselves but we already had the money in our wedding account so it felt like it was already spent anyway! haha anything to justify it ;)

Our wedding costs dont include the honeymoon, we booked cyprus a premier lux hotel ( not scrimping on quality for the honeymoon) all inclusive last week of August next year £1850 which I think is good value for what we are getting ( fast check in and vip suit at airport, extra leg room on plane with complimentary champagne and the hotel room is a junior executive suite)
Think im looking forward to that more than the wedding at the moment hehe

Our budget was and thankfully stayed at £6000, for sit down meal, evening buffet, church, hotel venue, bottles of wine, toast and arrival drinks, all entertainment .... pretty much everything. But I am making all the decorations myself and invitations and what not. But after family helping us out a little bit, we will be paying £4000 :) And this is a Saturday in June Wedding :)

We havent budgeted for a honeymoon as we are asking for travel vouchers instead of gifts, Ive totalled everything up, both things that we have already gt, and things that we have budgeted for, and it has come in at 3.5k, however that desnt include cake or bouquets or FG outfit as his mam and nan have said they re getting those. My mam has also said that she should be able to help out with the decorations closer to the time xx

I think its the h2b's thzt increase budgets. Lol... We started with a budget of 10k. That then went up to 13k and now we are on around 15.5k! I wanted a marquee and afternoon tea and h2b wanted a traditional sit down wedding breakfast with evening buffet. We have 110 guests in total and for the whole day. I dont think we will be having a honeymoon.

Ours ended up costing way more than we originally planned; I think our total ended up being around £25k, with the rings and honeymoon an extra £7k. We didn't have a particularly big wedding (61 for the day; another 15 or so for the evening), but our main costs were food at drink at £9300. We also spent quite a lot on photography (£2k) and music (£2k).

We weren't overly extravagant; we had the invitations made but DIYed the rest of the staionery (save the dates, menu cards, table names, table/seating plan), we didn't have a car/transport, we picked a venue that needed very little in terms of decor (our total decor expenditure was £850 on flowers, inc the bouquets and button-holes); but we found it really added up.

If someone had told me a few years ago that we'd have spent over £30k I'd have laughed lol, but, yep, there you go!

We got married last Saturday and for us (and my parents, who paid most of it; our contribution was around £10-11k with them paying the rest) it was worth every penny and we'd spend that again in a heart-beat.

I had the opposite. I got a load of quotes and created a spreadsheet based on those costs which came to just over £26k. I then went on a misson to find cheaper alternatives where possible and am now looking at an actual total of just over £14k. Shame our parents won't let me pocket the difference!

Power to you ladies - that's some whooping budgets you have there! I thought we were having a small wedding but it soon mounts up. Just over 2 weeks to go and still around £1500 to pay. Luckily wedding is after payday!
Our reception with 3 course meal for 55, tea and coffee, wine, dj, cheese n meats for evening (60 more guests) is £1650.
    I think that's a bargain! Lol
We're getting car and cake and photographer for free.
It's all the little things that you don't think about!

Wow MrsFarrelly2B I am extremely jelous of your venue, food & dj cost, our venue alone has cost £1900 luckily my dad has offered to pay for the food. That was one of the cheaper venues too, most were around 2100 plus you had to use onsite caterers that charged £30+ per head, with between 100-130 guests that wasn't an option.

If we carry on to budget which we have managed so far then ours will come in around 8.5k, that's without honeymoon (mum has offered to pay) & we also haven't included hen/stag doos into that cost.

we did a spreadsheet too, the estimated cost without honeymoon was about 23k, i nearly died. Managed to get it to about 15 incuding honeymoon. Still more than I would liked to have spent though, I would have been happy doing it much cheaper in another venue but my H2B also had other ideas lol

I remember the same thread being posted when I was planning our wedding and posts were similar. We set a £20k budget for everything, we ended up spending £24k on the wedding day including rings and then honeymoon set us back in total another £9k. All worth every penny. Thank goodness we had help from parents, £10k from each side.
