Im a little bit stuck on what to do about a gift for my h2b's Mums partner.

My fiancé has never ever seen eye to eye with this bloke, he's said he was horrible to him growing up, said rather disgusting things about him, when my Partner turned 16 he felt there was nothing else to do but move out because of this bloke.. To be quite honest it seems like his own mum choose her bloke over her own son.. Anyways I was just wondering whether we should get him a present or not? and what?

Why would you get someone like that a "Thank you" gift? Are they doing anything for the wedding?

i'm not giving every tom dick and harry a wedding gift...i wouldn't be getting this bloke one either! I think gifts should be for people who have helped with the wedding at your own discretion...we aren't really doing presents - making a small gift bag for the BMS as they will have done a LOT to help and we will probably do flowers for the parents and maybe our nans too...and then my two aunties who will be doing the cake and the calligraphy will probably get flowers or chocs. xx

If this was me I would be saying no to getting anything however it is an awkward situation and I get what you mean by saving arguments as the last thing you both want is stress leading up and after the wedding !
Personally if I had to get something I would get something small so it's just a token rather than an actual gift so even if it just a bottle of wine etc

My OH and I are only giving gifts to people involved in the actual Wedding like BM's/FG's/BMAN and yes we're getting a gift for my FMIL but it's a gift from me personally because of everything she has done for me since OH and I have been together. She's gone further than she ever should and I've been keeping her involved in a lot like BM dress shopping etc

Don't buy them gifts just to save arguments, that's just paying more money out to them to come to the wedding when you are already paying for their food on the day not to mention everything else.
