I have had to inform certain people that if anyone dares comment on the seating plan on the day I will happily eat their meal and they can sit in the hotel lobby!
My best friends mum DEMANDED to do her table plan to ensure she was happy with the "priority" people were sat in. My friend got so wound up she ended up having no formal seating plan.

I feel sorry for anyone who is "blessed" with such a family... We naturally single the elders out as more important and then immediate family is more important than friends - and friends know and understand this. I think :-)

Thats how ive done mine - elders and immediate family, family and "special" friends and then friends. Im also a big believer in mixing the families as I'm of the thought that weddings are about new relationships and joining units together etc. Ive been to weddings where there has been no encouragement of mingling and I wasn't as keen on this IMO.
Mine and h2b's families are literally worlds apart and polar opposites in so many ways that it will make for a very interesting day!

We are naming our tables after sights we visited when we were in rome. H2b proposed on the spanish steps so that will be the name of the top table. Each table will have one of the photographs that we took on our holiday printed on to a peice of card along with a little fact about that place.

We were having sweet names like Love Hearts, Parma Violets etc but now to be more personal to OH we may have game console names. However I have now got 'I love you' in different languages in my head. I only know two though lol, the French and German way to sayI love you. Will have to research, I need seven of them if anyone can help? x

YAY !!!!!!!!!! My dilemma is over :D :D i'm quite shocked tht i never came up with the idea before. i Ice Skated for nearly 10 years when i was younger and my theme is winter/icy/snowflake. so we're gonna name our tables after Ice Dances :D and include some Ice Skates into our room decorations. Oooooooo i'm happy now x

We're having pole move names as our table names as I do pole dancing fitness lessons. On the tables will be silouhette photos of me doing the moves with the names underneath. So far its going to be ballerina, silver shadow, gemini, dragonfly, ayesha, rainbow, butterfly and dangerous Brian =) xx

Loving the Tea names!! Our's is really informal, with half the people standing, so no table names necessary. I do want to put something on the tables though... off to think.

We haven't quite decided yet but have a few ideas... places we've visited together, castles (he proposed on a beach by a castle), roses (my name) or characters from a midsummer's nights dream ( I have a few ideas as to who could be on the 'bottom' table ;) )

Oh these are fab ideas, I'd never even thought of this before. I was just going to have plain boring numbers but as no one else has ever done this at the weddings I've attended sounds brill. I have no idea where to start though we don't like footy etc so a bit stuck. Our colour scheme is sage green and champagne. I've made our invitations and had banners made of our cake topper which is below

H2B suggested naming the tables after tree's as he used to be a tree surgeon for his Dad before business become slow and he had to look for another job. But he loved the job and as we are wanting to an escort tree instead of a table plan I liked the idea. But then it came into my head about having the names of the constellations as I love stars. I have a telescope and books about them and I could sit for hours looking at them. Plus I'm having a lot of sparkle at the wedding to and stars are sparkles in the sky, so I will have to discuss it with H2B.
