I have so many options now! Arghh! I wanted Eva Cassidy, songbird but all angela version is great too. Canon in d is probably what I will walk down the aisle too. I'd like somewhere over the rainbow, the version in 50 first dates and halo by beyonce as we sign the register and our first dance will be kiss from a rose by seal.

OMG how hard is all this music to decide?! It doesnt help that the pair of us listen to music constantly and being from a very musical backgroud i can thnk of a millioon songs i want but its a church wedding and i want something traditional sounding but unique... we're having an organist at OH's request so maybe i need to find out what they can play?! OR i get up there and play myself in... i'm capable but its not preferable!
'Our Song' is Al Green - Let's Stay Together so that will probably be our first dance... OH wants me to record it but me singing my own 1st dance would be a bit cringy...
So to cut my long post short, not much idea! But plenty of time to decide lol xx

Aww, i love the somewhere over the rainbow in fifty first dates!!

Im just going to walk down to the raditional wedding march x
Hey guys, so many suggestions for music! It's defo one of the hardest bits of the whole wedding, me & my H2B have diff music tastes and it's proving difficult to decide on what to pick for the whole ceremony (civil) and the first dance!
It's really helpful though looking through your ideas & thinking outside our own music we've got, as I love lots of music but just forget what a song is called or don't actually own it, so it's great to be reminded of songs or be introduced to something new.
Just be listening to some string quartet tribute stuff on youtube, OMG, why did I not know about this before, it's fantastic! I was just wondering if anyone knows how you can get these songs onto a iPod or CD? Do we have to download them from somewhere? I don't mind paying from iTunes or something to download songs :) We think we're just going to have everything on an iPod or CD as our venue have all the speakers to do that and it's cheaper! xx

We've got our first dance song - God spent a little more time on you - Nsync
But no idea for the ceremony yet x

Walking in to Bridal March from Muriels Wedding - for those that dont know, its a version of Abbas Dancing Queen done in what sounds like church bells. We're keeping it a secret and hope that everyone works out what it is and it makes them laugh. Not sure what else we'll have but we have a harpist who will play anything we want. Our first dance will be to In My Life, by The Beatles. Mainly because when I hear it I think of my late brother.
4/4/2013 I'm marrying my true love, blending two families
A dream come true

This is such a nightmare! This is currently what's on my maybe list (in no particular order)
Bon Iver - Skinny Love The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun Mad Dog McRea - Under the Moon (fiddle solo segment) Connor Oberst - Bright Eyes (First Day of My Life) Damien Rice - The Blowers Daughter Elbow - One Day Like This (instrumental) The Feeling - Rose Jack Johnson - Breakdown (intro section) Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats Lynda's Skynard - Free Bird Moby - Porcelain Mumford & Sons - Winter Winds Newton Faulkner - I Need Something Newton Faulkner - All I Got Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Scar Tissue (instrumental) Des'ree - Kissing You (instrumental) Adele- Make You Feel My Love Izzy Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow U2 - With or Without You (String Quartet Tribute) Radio head - Motion Picture Soundtrack (String Quartet Tribute)
At the moment our favourite is the Izzy version of Somehwere Over the Rainbow. I play the ukulele and we're getting married at the beach so I think it has the right vibe and I play that song all the time!
For our exit music so far we've got
The Eels - My Beloved Monster Newton Faulkner - To The Light Noah & the Whale - 2 Atoms in a Molecule
I think the Eels is my favourite so far for that, but I'm sure I'll change my mind by tomorrow!

I'm walking down the aisle to 'grow old with you' from the end of The Wedding Singer but it's a secret because my little brother is playing it on his guitar and him and FSIL are singing - H2B doesn't even know!
CommentAuthorMichelleJ40
this has been a giggly point with me and h2b. i am waking down the aisle with my mum to "WALK THIS WAY" by david garrett on the album Rock Symphonies. my family dont no just yet but wont to make them all giggle x
CommentAuthorRondinoStrings
Hi everyone!
I run a string quartet and I have no idea what I'll be walking down the aisle to! Popular choices are Pachelbel's Canon in D, Queen of Sheba, and One Day Like This - Elbow.
@b2bnicola the song is "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion.
Just beware that if you are getting married in a secular venue (like me...eventually!) you generally can't have any religious music e.g. Ave Maria, Jesu Joy etc.
Some registrars will allow it, as it's instrumental only, but some will just be plain awkward!
Also, if you are booking live musicians for your ceremony / drinks reception etc. DO NOT go through an agency! The musicians will normally get the same fee whether you book them through an agent or not - the difference is that you'll be paying a couple of hundred pounds extra for them to make a phone call to the group organiser. Believe me! (In my experience of working through agencies anyway.)
Hope this is helpful!

I really want to have "The Book Of Love" by Peter Gabriel, but H2B wants Canon in D... Also, maybe a silly question but in a church wedding do you have to have the organist playing or is it usual for them to play music we pick...?

I thought I was decided on 'Marry Me' by Train but now I'm swaying towards the Il Divo version of 'She'. I just love the way it builds up. For signing the register I am thinking of 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' by Stevie Wonder. Other songs I want featured somewhere (even if it's just background music at the wedding breakfast) are 'Never Tear us Apart' by Inxs, 'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz, 'Better Together by Jack Johnson, 'Life with You' by the Proclaimers, 'Accidentally in Love' by Counting Crows, 'Blanket on the Ground' by Billie Jo Spears- actually the list is endless!
For our first dance we are between 'I Won't Give Up' by Jason Mraz, 'You Make it Real' by James Morrison, 'Never Tear Us Apart' by Paloma Faith as I like the Orchestra and 'True Blue' by Madonna!!
CommentAuthorButton-Bell
