    Hi all,
i am having an all lace a line wedding dress, only a small train, will post some pics up of my new wedding dress when it arrives on wednesday, (i know its early but i fell in love with it) just wondered if i should use the short veil with crystal droplets on the end of it or get a cathedral veil as i love them.

    any ideas are appreciated.

my veil was longer than my dress and I got loads of compliments on it. If you want a cathedral length veil then have one!

I think they look gorgeous with most dresses except short knee length dresses

Does the place you've ordered it from do veils? From what I remember they usually let you try them with the dress to give you an idea of what you like and what works. Maybe ask when you go next week?

I agree with the comment above, I thought I'd quite like a long veil (my dress is lace a-line too) but found it covered up some of the detail on the back and flooded me (I'm only 5ft!), so it was good to try a few on and get an idea, I think they look different with each dress!

im able to try in on the shop again as it is arriving this wednesday via courier, i already have a short veil from when we had to cancel our wedding in 2010 due to my dad passing away. Was going to order a cathedral veil but dont know where to start, as i don't really want to get one from an auction site.
i had a short veil as my old dress was a princess cut (4 sizes too big now as i lost 9.5 stone since :( ) and it would have spoilt it with a cathedral veil, my new dress only has a small train so between two minds at the moment.

I got mine from a wedding fair, it will still in its wrapper it had never been out of the bag, she just opened it so I could see the crystal detailing at the bottom, my dress was plain on the skirt so the sparkle from the veil really set it off and gave it some detail.

if you have a heavily detailed dress at the back then I would consider a short veil so the detail isn't hidden.

I'd ask the ladies in the shop. They may not have a pattern or style you like but you'll get an idea of whether a long one will look ok or not. I wasn't going to have a veil at all but I went to the national wedding fair and tried on a head dress and dresses and each time the girls gave me a veil so now I really want one. Try it on for size, you might not like the long one with your dress x

I'm stuck on the same thing! J would defi itely try a few on with your dress when it comes in!

I was planning on a fingertip length veil but since seeing the picture of Jamie Lynn Spears' cathedral length on the UkB fb page last week I've got it stuck in my head and im dying to try one! My dress is Ronald Joyce Livorno if anyone could help me out. Only thing is my dress is in the spare room so cant really try it x

April, if i had your dress i would have a short veil because it has quite a big skirt and i wouldnt want to hide it because it is stunning.

    My train is only small.

Thanks for looking! I loooove my dress but I don't really feel like it has a train at all when it's on. I wasn't really bothered about a veil at all before I started looking, then when I bought. Y dress I tried a short onesnd liked it, then last time I tried the fingertip one and liked it a bit more (as did my stepmam and FMIL, Bms and the assistant) and it was only thin so could still see the detail. Now I've got it into my head I'd like a longer one ha! I wish I could just go in and have a look :(

My short one is stunning, well short id say its inbetween a short one and a fingertip one, but it has crystal droplets hanging on the end of it, round the edge. x

I was the same really struggled knowing what veil to get - finally chose one on Friday at my dress fitting and its a waist length one, originally thought that i wanted a long one but as many of the ladies have said it may hide some of the detail on the dress! My dress is A line and lace too! I've opted for a sheer 2 tier veil with diamantes! :)

I would highly recommened a sheer veil (with not much of a defined edging) it really helps to keep the look of the dress xx

I can imagine a cathedral veil working with a small train. I've got a long decorative train so I've gone for a small veil to allow the train to speak for itself. Just be sure to see if there is detail, because if there is you don't want it obscured.
