Hi All, I was just wondering if you knew what a maid of honours role is. I haven't been to many wedding hence haven't had a chance to meet any. I want my sister to be the maid of honour but don't know if she can take the responsibilities if there are any.

I'm not having a MOH as am having 4 equal adult bridesmaids, but I would expect a MOH just to be there for me and experience the whole planning process with me! I might give her tasks to do like research venues, caterers, DJs, photographers, etc. or to help me with DIY things such as making invitations and wedding favours. I might take her dress shopping with me as would no doubt value her opinion. She might also be involved with planning my hen party.
It would have to be someone I am very close to and someone who I trust implicitly :-) x

You can have whatever roles you like, there's no set definitions for them really. Maid of honour is very american. I guess it's more like a head bridesmaid?

I agree with Flossie. I would expect the MOH to be there to support me generally and help out with the planning side of things as and when needed. I don't think there are any set rules so it would be up to you to decide what your MOH will do.

I think Maid of Honour is just a title - so you could give her whatever role you wanted, same goes for bridesmaids. You might give them each different tasks to do or for them all to help out equally. Really its your call x
