Hello! I'm just recently engaged and we're looking for a different venue in the West Midlands. We're in Birmingham and ideally wouldn't like to go too far, but we don't want the traditional manor house/wedding breakfast. We want to be able to put our own stamp on things....we like the idea of a barn conversion, ideally not too expensive!
Any ideas????

best thing is go on the council website and see what places have licences to hold marriage
I'm having the same problem, me and the H2b fell in love with a barn in staffordsire but just can't afford the £10K price tag. We were looking at about £6.5k possibly £8k max. Need a reception for about 60 guests and a few children and an evening do for about 100. We currently live in B'ham but are moving to South Staffs soon, willing to travel though.
I really like the idea of having everything under one roof inc. bridal suite to save on cars/taxis etc.
Any help muchly appreicated!

Hi Rebecca, just wondering how you got on with a venue? My partner and I are in a similar situation not wanting to spend a fortune but wanting something different that we can make our own. Would be interested to hear how you got on.

You can hire the botanical gardens but you have to use their caterers (not sure how much they charge) if you want something a bit different. There's a converted barn golf place on the way from Cov to Brum along the A45 but I can't think of the name right now... I know they do weddings though because it was one of the places we considered - the word Windmill is coming to mind so it might be worth searching 'windmill golf' and seeing what comes up.
