We are getting married in October and our Best Man (let's call him T) is getting married in April. We just got the invitation today, but we're only invited to the evening reception....
Am I wrong for being really annoyed about this? OH and T have been such good mates for so many years that OH thinks of T as the brother he never had.
We also have a soon-to-be-3-year-old and it will be difficult to find someone to look after her while we're at the reception (she's not on the invite). Would've been so much easier for us to go to the day and skip the reception :$

I know invites shouldn't be on the basis of give to receive but I must admit I think I'd be annoyed at that. Especially as he's your best man.....

Are they having a small wedding with only family do you think?

I'm not sure what the right or wrong answer is but I know I'd feel a little peeved at this X

Tbh I would be annoyed too. But There could be a good reason why you guys are not invited, is he having a very small wedding? Or Dose him or his oh have a very big family and there is no room for any one else? havd you or your oh asked about it? Xx

I was thinking the same as Michelle, maybe they are only having a couple of family members at a very small cermony and then the evening party is the party for everyone.

I think you need to ask and find out- if they were that close I would have thought your OH would be in the wedding party?

OH just got home from work, spoke to him about it and it turns out the venue they've got for the wedding is really small so it's immediate family only. OH not in the wedding party as T has three brothers! Feeling a little guilty now :/

At least you have your answer and it's probably the best outcome :-)

Agree with Michelle but they should have been more sensitive and let you know rather than just sending an invite.

As I thought..., at least there is a genuine reason behind it but yes like Steph says, you thought he may have let you know in advance.

At least you know now x

Just ready this and I would be annoyed just to receive that too seeing as he's your best man. At least there's a reasonable answer for you!

That does seem fair enough, although still a shame. Hopefully April will give you enough time to find a babysitter for the evening. Maybe if you struggle you can mention it to them, I know my husband and I hadn't included young children on evening only invites as we assumed most parents would want the kids in bed, but we told some individuals who mentioned childcare that they could bring the children if there was a problem. We got two evening only couples who did bring the kids, one child was only a few weeks old and the other was a toddler.

if they where having a tiny wedding for immediate family only or a destination wedding id undersand but if its a normal wedding I find that rude of them

I feel similar, I had 3 girls picked out for my wedding and all 3 got engaged before me - one stopped talking to me and didnt invite me, one asked me to be a bridesmaid then took it back because she asked too many people then made me a 'supplier' at her wedding so I wasnt even with the guests :o and one hasn't mentioned anything to me since her engagement party over a year ago - makes me feel like I value them more than they value me, I always classed them as best friends but to find Im barely classed as an 'aquaintence' at best hurts
