Hi everyone! I'm Naomi (Nim to most!) and I get married in just over 9 months. That sounds scary!! My OH proposed in November and made me the happiest person alive. Looking forward to speaking to some of you and hopefully getting some more ideas for our music themed wedding :)

Hi! I'm Natalie!
I got engaged on the 25th of October in a beautiful village in Derbyshire called Froggatt...... Which also happens to be my surname! My htb was so thoughtful in his proposal!
Now deciding what to do about a wedding as we want to keep it small, so still deciding if to go abroad or not ATM!
Thankfully this website has been great with some ideas!

Hello!
My name is Sophie (aged 23) and my Fiance is Steven (aged 38). We have been together for 6 years (7 on Halloween!) and engaged for 3. We are getting married in 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic. We live together in South Wales, all of my family live in North Wales and his live down here, apart from my future in-laws who live in North Wales too.
We have picked out a castle to get married in which is important in Czech history and we are having a small wedding, 20-30 guests. When we got engaged we felt the UK could not give us the weddings we dream of and we couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else, Prague is very special for us.
We are having two different receptions when we get back to the UK which will be bigger, one in North Wales and one in South - so we have a huge amount of things to plan! One ceremony and three full receptions! :D I also feel lucky that I get to wear my dress three times lol. I am hoping (I am going to formally ask, two already have said yes) four bridesmaids but my Fiance will not have men on his side, he does not have any friends (the group drifted apart and he is a loner anyway) and very sadly, the man who would have been his best man was murdered a few years ago, it was publised in newspapers and he had just become a father to a little girl.
Me and my Fiance are a childfree by choice couple, neither of us have ever wanted children. We hope to spend our married life travelling, having romantic adventures and enjoying our lives only the two of us.
I look forward to chatting with everyone here and hopefully making a few friends! :) I am sorry to have written so much!

Hi Sophie, one of the best parts about a wedding abroad is getting to wear your dress again. I am jealous you get o wear yours THREE times though. I like your choice to just live life and travel, sounds like it would be perfect for the two of you. I've replied to our other post about age gaps, there's 8 years between OH and I (he is older) he still doesn't want kids really, I think it would be nice if we decided not to have them and travel but I think we both envisioned a family when we 'grew up', so now we are 'grown up' its weird that we don't feel ready yet, if you know what I mean.
CommentAuthorCeltic_Queen
Hey Steph, Thank you! :) I am so excited to have so many parties :) As a little girl I always envisioned having the big wedding, but never the children. As I got older and by chance encountered the childfree community, I realised that I can live my life for me and I dont have to have children like the people around me were saying. Since that realisation I have felt free, when I met my FH and told him I didn't want them I was jumping for joy when he said he didn't want them either. It has been perfect for us, we travel and have adventures abroad, spend quiet nights snuggled together reading books, discussing everything and everything cuddled in bed and just having the freedom to do as we wish is wonderful. I cannot imagine giving this up, I will be totally honest. The only thing missing from our lives is a dog, once we do have one we both feel that our lives are complete.
I totally know what you mean, have you ever thought about totally deciding not to? Have you and your fiance ever looked choosing to be childfree? I know a really good forum that might be good for you to look at if you are interested :)
CommentAuthorStephH96
To be honest I know I am too selfish at the moment and I don't think either of us wants the commitment. Both of our reasoning is just 'not right now' and that's it to the discussion really. Might be good to look at the forum, would you mind posting the link on my wall?
CommentAuthorCeltic_Queen
Of course, no problem :)
If you ever have a question about living childfree please dont hesitate to ask me. Add me as a friend if you like?

Hi! My OH proposed on Christmas Day 2015, but it's taken a while to get my head round and I'm finally off work so have time to explore the site. We've done no planning as yet, except to decide it will be around Christmas 2017.

Celtic_Queen Having a small wedding unlikely to be no more than 40 people! Will be 7 or 8 kids in total so maybe not the posh hotel private dining room I had in mind. But will see what they say. We will probably end up having it in an old village hall (old wooden beams) . Flowers in jam jars and bunting and I'm gonna make my own brooch bouquet. How about you?
CommentAuthorHelenT82
Also just wanted to say hi and congrats to the new brides... Anyone else have a really small wedding?

Hi Everyone
I'm Sophie. I proposed to my fiance Rog just before Christmas. I was so nervous for taking the reins but so happy that he said YES! He says that he had been thinking of proposing for a while but couldn't think of a "non boring" way of doing it! This does mean however that I still have not got an engagement ring! Rog and I have been together for 5 years and we welcomed our daughter into the world last year. I also have 2 older children from my first marriage.
We're all set for getting wed on 17th August 2017 - I'm so excited and it feels so far away but I plan to enjoy every moment of planning in the 18 months leading up to the big day! I am super organised though and have most things sorted/panned now - I have even finished making my invitation suites... Just need to print out the inserts closer to the time! We're having a small relaxed private ceremony (just 30-35 guests) with a wedding breakfast and entertainment - then are having a bigger reception party (70-100 guests) a few days later in my parents back garden.
Great to be here! WT x

So glad i have joined up and looking for lots of inspiration and ideas. Me and OH are both a bit on the different side ( all tattooed up, like our skulls etc) so also looking for some quirky ideas. Have already got some venue ideas :)
Thanks for having me
