Hey ladies. Pinterest Is defo a great tool to use. Have you guys set dates yet? There is a great pinned post from the moderator's on things you need to organise which I used first. But have a browse through posts. Im halfway through my plans and still have 11months to go. This site helps boost you! Everyone has loads of amazing ideas.

Hello, congratulations to you both, and welcome to the UKBride family. Start with deciding roughly when you would like to marry, and work out how much of a budget you have, including what you can realistically save and what family may be prepared to offer. Then you can choose your venues and set your date.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
Welcome :). You will get great advice from the girls here :)

Congratulations ladies on your engagements :) the big three to kick off is...
1. Set yourself a REALISTIC budget, don't save to the point you have nothing left for emergencies or usual treats like cinema etc otherwise you may end up resentful towards your own wedding. 2. Once you have sorted out your budget... time to shop for a Venue! Take your time and have fun, make sure you ask questions about hidden fee's and VAT because some brides have been caught out with this and ended up finding out there were hidden extras they have to pay for. 3. Photographer, these get booked up as fast as venues and sometimes years in advance but again, take your time and interview them, make sure you ask the big question of what is their contingincies should they not be able to be there on the day and ask to see FULL day wedding examples of their work and how they work with you on the day. Do you want something relaxed and candid, or formal? Ask about Engagement sessions or Trash the dress/Cherish the dress after-wedding shoots.
and my personal favourite... number 4... Haggle... you don't ask, you don't get. I got £600 off my venue alone because I pointed out they were wanting to charge us for the overall numbers in the evening when the number we had for the day and meal put us in the lower price bracket and after a night of waiting we got an email saying we got the money off!
But above all... HAVE FUN! Go to Wedding shows and see what events they have going at venues your considering and don't panic if your OH is not being as involved as you hope, it happens to us all.

Welcome and congratulations girls.
I would have to agree with the others really, the main things to do are Check the Brides checklist at the top of the forum, Set a realistic budget to help keep you under control, Decide when you would like to get married If you want to get married within around 2 years, consider looking at venues and photographers as they get booked up quickest (once you have a date in mind)

Ho Laura, welcome and congratulations on getting engaged. We were unsure on where to start planning but in the end we both went to view a few venues and finally decided on THE one. So we went a few times to make sure and to ask all questions we could think of and then booked our date. That is the first thing you should do, that way it makes things finalised and you have the joys of planning everything else to go with it. Right now, we have chosen our bridesmaids, usher, flower girl, best woman, colour scheme (which has changed a number of times from plum -> plum and lilac -> lilac and lemon), overall wedding theme (vintage). I know what kind of dress I want so just need to wait until the right time to go shopping for it. My dad will be giving me away and I will be making the majority of the decorations for it. So far I think that is all we need to plan (aside from the registrar which is proving a bit tricky) but I do have a handy wedding planning diary where I am putting all my ideas and am going to collect any pictures/ magazine clippings etc. which I like the look of and then keep it all together in my diary. It works wonders. Hope this helps :) x
