I just emailed them all with what I was looking for and got lots of replies back. You could try that. X

Look at a lot of brochures and websites to give you an idea of what prices are like and what is available in your area. I would then send some emails to your favorite venues telling them what you're looking for and prospective dates.
As for dress shopping wear good underwear, set a budget and stick to it. Sometimes it's a good idea to have some dresses/styles in mind. Keep an open mind sometimes a dress you'd never though you'd wear will look amazing on you.
Good luck x

Hi Yvette,
I find for the venue, the best thing to do is draw up a rough guest list before you start looking, so that you go in with numbers in your head. Normally theyll either quote you a per person price or have a designated number of people if they have wedding offers. I also find, a lot of wedding venues do advertise their prices online so you have a good idea when you go see them. If you like somewhere, firstly ensure they can accommodate the numer of guests you are having. Dont forget to negotiate.... Never pay the first price they ask!!
Dresses is a bit of a difficult one. Again, I used the internet to research shops before I booked an appointment. I tended to find that shops stocked particular styles of dresses - I knew I didnt want a taffeta dress, and most didnt have much of a chiffon/lace option, so I looked at their styles online before I visited. Also, some, not all do show prices online so you can get a good idea whether their dresses are in your budget or not. If you have a tight budget, there is no shame in phoning up and asking what their price ranges go from. When you find somewhere you want to go, book an appointment and make sure you dont have to rush off somewhere after as it can take a couple of hours. When you arrive first, you generally have a chat with an assistant who will try and help you select some dresses to try on. When you ve found a few, they will help you get in and out of them so make sure you wear nice undies!! Also very helpful to wear a strapless bra if you are thinking of getting a strapless dress. Try anything and everything on, you might find a style you didnt think youd like but looks fab. When it comes to buying, dont be shocked if you are asked to put down 50% of the value, but it does depend on stores....
