Ok - so now im on the hunt for a photographer - i cannot find one that will do it any cheaper than the 350 quid mark - and thats just for a CD!! I flatly refuse to pay that obscene amount for 3 hours work and 10 minutes to upload the "unedited" photos onto a damned CD..... and its well out of our price range.

So now im looking for an alternative in the Manchester area - any ideas ladies?

oph they are a total p*ss take!! I was impressed that I managed to get it for £425, its shocking when you are happy that's the price you got it down to!!

In this modern age, everyone has a digital camera with them, ask everyone to upload them to your wedding page?

I'm having 1 photographer for 6 hours and all pics on a dvd (apparently they will be high quality) and he says she should get around 700 shots. But £425, thats like £70 an hour. Wish I earned that!!

Try putting an ad on here- or other forum- you might get someone who knowws someone (if that makes sense lol), i did that and Emma on here told me about her partner who wants to build up a portfolio and he is going to photograph our wedding for free, great for us and he benefits by having a wedding portfolio. there was another lady on here who messaged me telling me about her fiance who would photograph my wedding chaeper than £250.00, so its defo worth starting a discussion asking for help! good luck!!

Oh dear I thought i was getting a good deal, now i'm not so sure :-(
My photogapher is costing us £1,250 which includes all day from getting ready to last dance, an 80 page large photo book, A cd of all photos taken in 3 different editing choices (including black and white), an on-line photo gallery for friends and family to see and a getting to know you shoot a week before the shoot.
Is this good or bad, cause most of yours seem to be under £500?
There's two things im spending money on, the venue and the photo's. Everything else is well under £500

I'm really not bothered by all the fancy album packages they offer as id love that job myself as i love creating scrap books and albums and my H2B is a darn good photographer although as a hobby so we could take some decently taken photos and play with them ourselves but it seems an after thought (and extra charge) just to get a copy right signed over to you for your own photographs of your wedding!! grr

Goff, have a look at Silver Penguin Photography. They're actually based over the pennines near to Leeds but do travel (and it's not that far on the M62).

They do 'pay as you go' options and they're packages start at £150. We were going to have them for our wedding, and for 5 hours and an additional venue after the register office just for pics we got a quote of £450 (but they do have cheaper packages). As we're now getting married at Gretna, our photography is combined with the wedding package so don't need to book now.

Just one thing my first wedding i had a friend do my photo's and although we got about 300 photo's in the end for £50 they all seemed to be lacking something. Don't get me wrong there were quite a few really good one's but i alway's regreted not having a professional, which is why this time around i'm going all out and spending money on the photo's and venue. My first wedding we spent about £4000 (i was 18 my ex was 20) and although the day was fantastic there are alot of things i will do differently this time.

Mine's only costing £200 and she's giving us a disk with all the photos on so we can print them off ourselves, we're really lucky as she's a friend of mine and she's very good. She's coming to the church, going to the reception (we're just having a party with a buffet no sit down meal, my family doesn't get on well enough for that lol) and staying for the whole thing. We got some quotes from local photographers and the cheapest one was £795 for 40 photos!!!! H2b nearly fell off his chair when he saw those prices lol, my best friend got married the other year and her photographer was awful, really rude, ordered us all about and then it took a year to get the finished album!!

one photographer (mcr area) i got a quote off was charging £1400+ for pics up to the cake cutting but she told me she didnt drive anywhere as she is nervous and also wanted feeding at the reception dependent on if the speeches were before or after the meal. i wouldnt of objected to offering her some food say if a guest pulled out last minute or paying for a snack in restaurant but im not being told what to do. When i told my h2b his words were "For £1400 she can bloody feed herself". needless to say she didnt get a booking. now got one who lives locally to venue and she has loads of different packages available which i dont have to choose until nearer the time.

the thought of paying for a photographer was really scary for me especially when i went to a wedding fair and saw the prices on the leaflets! luckily my cousin is a professional photographer and has offered to do the whole days photos for free, plus my h2bs friend does some freelance wedding photography part time and said he would do some for us aswel. I just hate that so many people and companies charge sickening amounts of money from people that just want their day to be perfect!

Errrrmm, I'm on here as I'm getting married, but I'm also a photographer. we've tried to really range our prices out. But I also do friends/family for next to nothing, a) I get more photos for my portfolio, and b) they have someone they know and trust.

I can honestly say, we spend at least 10 hours after the wedding, tweaking and editing the photos, converting to black and white etc.

Even the smallest package, has 2 photographers, we edit a set number of images, and they get a cd.

We're not all bad, honest. My friends sister paid nearly £4000 for her photos, I nearly fell off my chair!!!! But I have to admit, her photos are AMAZING.

I'm so pickie, I'll end up doing mine with good old self timer!!! lol

I guess it depends how long you want the photographer for... I'd love one from the 'getting ready' till the 'breakfast' but the quotes we've had are so fricking stupid. I know it's people's bread and butter but still, I'm starting to think it's jewel incrusted bread!

I keep thinking to go look for someone 'cheap' but if my wedding photos didn't turn out well I think I'd cry - it's the most important day of our lives and I want the photos to be amazing... It's difficult!

My ideal photographer is a guy called Alain Martinez but he's in America and I can imagine the cost of getting this guy to England and then all the photos! I haven't contacted him and I don't think I will - or if I do I shall be sitting down!

I think your all crazy paying that price! I'm putting CD's on the table at the reception and asking people to send me the photos on the disks. I'm offering 3 prizes of £75, £50 and £25 for the best photos and then using a photobook tool online to make my own photobooks from the photos. My weddings not a cheap one either.
If you think about it your going to capture EVERYTHING that way, everyone always groups off and has their own fun at times too and the photos are natural and from the guests perspective.
The prize money is gonna make people more vigilant to get a decent picture too and who doesn't know a teenager who photoshops all their facebook pictures?! Email a few to them and get them to adjust the ones you love.
Crazy ladies - how many bars of chocolate could you buy with that money?! I think you need to rethink. LMAO ;)
