I am undecided on whether to get insurance or not. My brother and sister-in-law didn't bother and luckily for them nothing went wrong...but that was 6 years ago. What with the recession not long over I'm in two minds whether to get it or not...is it a good idea or just a waste of money???
CommentAuthorangeleyes
i was wondering on that as well, we have gone all budget so nothing costs much money and we're getting married at the local zoo so i cant see us needing insurance for that. hmmm.
CommentAuthorcuddlez80
we are getting it as the flower shop we were going to use went bust id rather lose the 50 pound for insurance than 100s esp as we are on such tight budgets
CommentAuthorLittlegerald
Well yeah I think it's a good idea. I read on FB the other day a poor couple had been called two weeks before their wedding to be told that the venue had gone bust and they needed to find somewhere else...it would be devastating if that happened to us so I think I will bite the bullet and get it....as you say it's better to lose £5o then 100's or even 1000's of pounds!!
CommentAuthorcuddlez80
oh yes and as i found out most venues r booked years before im getting married next year and everything booked up so im hiring the rugby club and doing it myself
I think we were lucky with our venue. We went with a package deal from Britannia Hotels. 2 out of the 3 Britannia's in my area are nice and we got a great room, 100 for the day and 250 at night for just over £3000 for ther entire day! So I think I'll deffo be getting that insurance just in case!!!

all the good deals in hotels are to far away im in the middle of nowhere :-(

we got our wedding insurance from ecclesiastical as they cover online gift lists and online shops. they were the only ones i could fond that did this. lots of people had problems with hitched's insurance paying out. i would check on some of the comparison sites and look at reviews of different companies before buying. x x

The way I look at is if you can afford to lose all your deposits/payments, then you don't need insurance. If you can't, you need it.

Argh - just been looking at a couple of sites...I'm so confused! I don't know which site is better?! They all seem to do the same thing!
CommentAuthorNeen
Do you arrange wedding insurance before you book anything or at anytime before the date?

Silly question - the cancellation amount...do you pick the amount that your wedding is likely to cost?? If this is the case, the only issue is for example the Greenbee website - the £15,000 policy includes £3000 on the cake...well mine isn't going to cost anywhere near that as my mum's making it. So surely that's a waste of money??? Does anyone know of any mix+match policies available?

We took out insurance too and got pretty much everything covered. We took it in case we have to postpone at last minute as dad is ill and will be having chemo at the time x
CommentAuthorMrs Alsbetty
it does annoy me that they seem to penalise you just because your ill or on medication etc its not as if you done it out of choice! x

jeez...actually where did you find the exclusions..I want to read them properly..& I can't find them.
EDIT...d'oh I saved it somewhere LOL..silly me
CommentAuthorMrs Rebecca Hossfeld
Right I just called them...what they mean by the exclusion is..IF you cancel the wedding due to DEPRESSION..you can not make a claim.
It does not mean that they will not cover you.
