Just wondering if I should take out Insurance... so many insurers out there it's too confusing! Has anyone else taken it out?
CommentAuthorMrs (Dove) Pidgeon
I've got it! It was the first thing we did after booking the venue and church. I would be so worried I didn't have it- so many things could go wrong!
We went with E&L.

E&L is the site I was looking at, it was also the cheapest quote. I think I need to take it out just not sure who to go with x

Once I've found a venue I'm definitely going to take out insurance - you never know who might let you down at the last minute, and you really can't plan for some things, like weather!
my venue won't let you NOT have insurance, you have to show them proof with a cover note before they take the final payment, how much is insurance???
CommentAuthorCeCe
Ere .. *coughs with embarrassment* do you have to pay £19.50 per month...how does this insurnce malarky work?!
Help!

was just reading on another bridal site some lass had paid full money 4 her bridesmaid dresses (£180 each)gone 2 the shop yesterday 2 pick them up and the shops closed down no phone number or anythin left she didnt have any insurance n she paid cash as the woman said the card machine didnt work so id say make sure u take it out cos if its ur caterer or somethin big like that and you've paid all that money out then ur stuffed (i havent got any btw i never listen 2 my own advice lol)
CommentAuthorKaty

I heard that people who have made claims from E&L have had trouble getting things sorted, not sure if it's hear say though. ecclesiastical insurance are meant to be good they are who Marks & Spencers use.

i wasnt going to but thought it would just be my luck that something that would happen and i would lose all that money didnt want to risk it so got insurance just hope i dont need to claim
CommentAuthorDiana89
H2B thinks it's planning to fail, I think he's insane and for that he's paying lol, I'm not taking any risks.
CommentAuthorRoseyB
We've not got any yet, keep forgetting about it, thanks for the reminder. As far as i can tell its a one off premium you pay is that right? The prices vary significantly don't they, is it a case of if you go for the cheapest you suffer later if you make a claim? xxx

Has anyone tried WeddingPlan Wedding Insurance? We've taken our insurance with them and their cover seems to be very good for the price (they have different levels of cover starting at £19.99 as well).
I've just noticed they advertise here on UKBride as well (on the adverts on the left hand side of the page).

I'm with the insurers that Kaya has mentioned too. We got a great deal online!! we took the policy out as soon as we booked our venue 'just incase!' x x
CommentAuthorMrs Brakes
As soon as we knew where the venue was going to be I got insurance. £19.50 and covers for if your venue or suppliers go bust, which in this financial climate was the main thing I wanted covered. I'd rather 'lose' 20 quid than lose hundreds.
Got married 11/11/11.
CommentAuthorRaquel007
I have insurance with E & L. xx
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
In this day and age you NEED insurance. There is a compare wedding insurance site out there what will show you what each company gives you for your money. The amount you pay varies to how much your wedding is. I think ours was about £30 for up to 10k. Its just a one off payment but it will protect you against companies going bust (which is happening all the time) and also if you had an accident or something and couldn't make it on the day they would arrange you to have it all again on another day. The insurance also can cover you for public liabilty which protects your guests if anything should happen to them.

I deffinately will be having, but not purchased anything big yet so will wait until thats sorted then get the insurance, fail to prepare is preparing to fail!

i've not got it yet but after looking at sites and this i think we are going to get it. like others have said i'd rather lose 20quid and feel better than risk it
CommentAuthorwelshcerys
We are def gonna get insurance - at the moment it's a toss up between E&L and ecclesiastical.
Just bumping this post up too :o)
CommentAuthorChrissy~MrsFaulds2b
I never thought about insurance :( i'll have a nose at the sites you have just mentioned and see what they quote. Thanks for bumping the post welshcerys x
CommentAuthorwelshcerys
No probs - I could see that it has been a while since it was bumped and we are just looking to sort the marquee out so it's on my mind right now!
CommentAuthorlinzi
we just bought outs with E&L. Cost £19.99! They have the public liability cover we were looking for, to cover us if anyone knocks any of the valuables over at our venue!
I don’t repeat gossip so listen very carefully!!
Started Slimming World - 23/03/2011 - 2 Stone to lose!
Total Loss = 1 stone 7 lbs.
As at 23/11 - 3 days before the wedding.
CommentAuthorChrissy~MrsFaulds2b
I did a quote online an it's £33 so gonna get it tomorrow x
CommentAuthorLynz_9

We have to take out wedding insurance that covers for the military. With Barry being in the navy we need to cover for the chance of him missing the wedding if he gets deployed somewhere as well as for the usual wedding issues. Its unlikely he will get deployed at the time of the wedding as the Navy are quite good with this but it would just be our luck. Does anyone know of a good insurer to go with that covers all our needs xx
CommentAuthorTattieSoup
I'm definitely planning to get insurance as I reckon there is a real risk that guests etc might not make it because of weather issues due to the time of year I want to get married. I looked into it though and most insurers don't let you take it out more than a year before the wedding so we will have to wait.
CommentAuthorshellay
i took it out straight away just in case, did not cost alot, we went with e & l x
I have know my soulmate for 27 years and on the 6th August
I married him and became Mrs Garnham.
It was most definitely the happiest day of my life.

CommentAuthorMrs (Dove) Pidgeon
Future Mrs Henderson, e&L has a military deployment cause, you just need to get it in writing hes applied for leave at that time and they've said yes.

i have not yet but once church is sorted we are going to :)
CommentAuthorRach (Mrs H)...
we went with ecclesiastical ( think thats how you spell it!) Its a one off payment and it is tailored to your wedding and how much you are spending, i think ours cost about £50 but if any suppliers let us down etc we can claim and its peace of mind that all the money we are spending is protected.
CommentAuthorFuture Mrs Henderson
Thanks Frau Pidgeon. I'll make sure he he gets it in writing, just need to wait until he is on his new ship xx
