Wedding Forum - Wedding Insurance...

I read all the bad reviews for E&Ls pet insurance (i.e. trying to get out of paying up on claims) and it put me off going with them.

We had E & L, if do through one of the girls on here thats has it they offer a referral fee too. xx

Its up to you Skitty, it covers you with deposits etc if things have to be cancelled for certain reasons etc. xxxx

We've got cover with Weddingplan insurance - they're reasonable and start at £20 to £175 (with different steps in between). For what they cover they definitely seemed the best option (we googled loads before we decided lol).

I got my wedding insurance with E&L and so glad I have. The other weekend we had a lovely venue burn down due to fireworks at a wedding party. It's when things like that happen you realize that wedding insurance is very important.

From reading one of the other threads it looks like you can book from about 2 years before your date, so I suppose that's the only restriction?

I went with E&L, according to this thread every bride has lol! We sorted it out as soon as we booked the venue, which was 2 years before the big day.

I recommend it simply because if the worst happens, you should at least get something. A former colleague of mine mocked his mrs for getting wedding insurance, but when he nearly died in a car accident a month before the wedding and had to be held together with pins and staples, he was glad he did!!! Things like the dress were fine, it was mostly venue, registrar, flowers, invites and the like they had to rebook once he was walking again, but they ended up with an even better package, and day, than they would have had they been able to get married on the original date. And they went with E&L lol!

A friend of mine went with John Lewis I think, because her hubby was working abroa it covered them in case of ash cloud preventing flights.

Yes, think so! But if you're worried, it took me 15 minutes to do it online. I think it bases it all on what you are planning on spending, and to be fair as the venue is normally the bulk of that I can't see how you would necessarily know for definite venue costs unless you'd booked it? You can buy it two years in advance, most people don't necessarily book that far ahead. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to buy insurance till the day before the wedding, and that is often too late!

Just double check when you look for it. I would check the famous wedding mags, they often have adverts on their websites for it! xxx

You are still covered for deposits that you have made before as long as they are below a certain amount. i think ours were covered if they are below £1000 check the policy wording or give them a call. we went with e & l because of the military wedding insurance its something i couldnt do without with H2B being in army x
