I'm getting married in sorrento in July this year! Very VERY excited to say the least.

I'm after some advice on a couple of things..

Firstly, I feel slightly out of control of the whole thing as its abroad. Although I have a planner I can speak to, it's all over email currently and I feel confused with everything. Has anyone ever got married in Italy (or abroad?) who can help calm me down a little? I've had a venue for a meal after our ceremony, which is at 12pm suggested by the planner but he hasn't been in touch to find out if I need him to book it. I can't see my flowers until I get to Italy and it's super expensive to have my hair done (approx £150). As you can see I'm so stressed haha!!

Secondly, I really want my h2b to wear a blue suit, white shirt and maybe something slightly dusky pink (my theme is lace and pearls with a hint of dusky pink), but I don't want him to be hot, does anyone have any suggestion/pics of something he could wear please? Also our 6 year old son will be wearing a matching suit so I need him to be comfortable too!!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

have you asked if you can skype the planner at some point so you can discuss things *almost* in person? it must be very hard to not have control, im getting married in the uk & lately everything has gone wrong but i think that may be me looking into things a bit much. I cant imagine the situation you must be in but maybe skype would be an option?

i asked to have a picture of flowers emailed to me .... i knew it was roses and got to choose colour , they were more than happy to do this .

I have been a guest at a wedding in sorrento and it is beatiful :)

The family member who got married wore a suit during ceremony (and ushers etc) but took suit jacket off and just wore waistcoat and shirt and tie , this was during May so quite hot then!
I would get in touch with wedding planner and ask what is needed to be arranged before travelling out and what needed out there also anything booked through them ask for picture to be emailed :)

Somehow always connected , finally became friends .
Friends became soul mates :)

I have heard of a company in italy that takes you on a tour of the venues that they are able to organise weddings with. They charge you for this, but they then take the amount they charge off of the final price if you book through them. It sounds like this may be too late for you, but you could ask! Xx

Thanks everyone for your help. I may just ask about Skype, hadn't even thought about that!

I think I just need to note down EVERYTHING I want/need to know no matter how small and send the planner a big list :-) I have asked for a link to the photographers website that is recommended as part of the package. I'm waiting on that at the moment.

What I'm finding a little difficult is what to pay for and when. As we're getting married in Sorrento, but having a big party back in the UK, I don't want to double pay for things like a reception after the ceremony/table decs. We are only having a total of 10 people in Sorrento (including us) and we are hoping that as they are close family (mums/brothers/sister/our children) that we can ask that each person pays for their own meal after we're married. We will buy some champagne and some drinks and we will get a wedding cake and have some favours (fan's for the ladies/undecided for men). When we get back to the UK, we are having a party for over 100 people where we will pay for a buffet/BBQ, table decoration and DJ (we will even have a couple of speeches) but no favours on the tables etc...

Do you think people will feel put out that our party is more of a party than a 'wedding after party'?
