    Hi all,

I'm probably going to be doing my own hair and makeup for my wedding, but I usually don't do anything at ALL, so I need to learn lol. I went to B00ts for a makeup tutorial, which was really useful, and now I need to sort out my hair.

As all I do, literally, is wash my hair then let it dry and brush it, I have no idea what to do with my hair for the wedding. I've decided to book in some appointments with a hairdresser to "try" some different styles and techniques.

Has anyone else done this? Experiences? What to ask for? I don't know what suits me (yet) so I'm thinking of letting the hairdresser do what she thinks, then go away and think about it myself, then come back to try another in a couple of weeks? That way I can see how it behaves over the course of a day, then have some time to try re-creating it myself, and ultimately if I don't like it or can't recreate it, trying something new. Does this make sense?

I'm also thinking about asking her about whether or not to dye/highlight. I have mid-length (just below shoulders) hair, it's naturally a sort of dark blonde but it't red/brown atm due to dye (I always dye it over the winter because it looks dull, and the dye NEVER washes out in the time it says it will, and I get annoyed... and repeat this every year!!). If I don't do anything to it apart from trims to keep it neat, and assuming some sunny weather, it'll probably be about the same length when I get married this August but dark blonde with highlighted bits.... wondering whether to get this done at a hairdressers rather than hoping that nature will take its course and sort it for me....?

[edit] Wedding is end of August so I thought I could try some dye jobs/cuts/styles between now and then before deciding?

I have been trying to decide what to do with mine too - last night I looked at over 2500 wedding hair styles and must have liked about 8 and still am undecided what it is I want to go for. I hate any photograph of myself so I think a lot of it is being scared of choosing a style that I will hate when the photos arrive, despite how beautiful it looks on the model :-(

I am going to pay somebody to do it for me, but can't decide wether to have it up, down, braided, curly or straight

Ahhh, thats my thoughts exactly! I always have my hair the same way, and I hate photos of me anyway, and I hate my neck....... .blahhh!

I am thinking I *definitely* want it down, rather than up. That's why my plan is to have several hairdresser appointments over the next couple of months and get her to do loads of different things and see what I actually like. I might even try an "up-do" or two....

You should try an up do, you might be surprised. It also depends if you are having anything in your hair like clip or tiara and then a veil.

I think I am having mine curled and down with plaits either side to keep it off my face, plus I have a tiara so need to have something so it can sit nicely.

If you are not used to doing things yourself you should practice loads. y0u tu83 videos will help x

it's a good idea to try some styles you usually wouldn't as it's best to get a range of ideas but i wouldn't go crazy on different dye's before your wedding as it can ruin your hair x

Im pretty sure mine will be doen in a loose fishtail plait with curled messy tendrils. Im wearing a flower crown with a corsage of side flowers on it a full legth veil, and a rose gold hairvine after.

I wear my hair down all the time (except for when it needs a wash - but never more than 2 days) so I am going to have my hair up,
I have asked my hairdresser to do it for me.

Although I'm not entirely sure how I want it , but I think in a low bun at the back with some strands curled down to frame my face.

If you haven't dyed your hair before - I would try it now and give yourself plenty of time to try it again or get a hairdresser to do it for you.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
